I don't know yet, but I know I want to give him something sentimental he can keep and know when he's older he's had since his first Christmas. We're visiting family the weekend before who are probably going to get him toys, so we'll wait on his birthday to get him some new toys.
His birthday is the same day as his daddy's, so I'll probably get him something to commemorate that, maybe something with handprints. Birthday isn't until Jan 31, so that isn't on the top of the priority list just yet.
I started a pinterest board with ideas, mostly toys. The toys I've been looking at are generally ones that go up to 2 to 3 years so they have a longer use. I'm tempted to get her the fisher price ballpalooza and I think a work bench toy would be cute. And I saw a toy with gears they can build with, oh and a toy stearing wheel.
Ya, brainstorming mode. I'll figure out what we want to get her, and what to "wish list" for when family asks. I may ask for family zoo membership, or membership to the toy / play museum.
Baby Stella doll, squeak eggs (toy), Pottery Barn soft doll house ('cause I bought it real cheap), Twilight Ladybug nightlight, books, a couple of puppets, & ornaments.
Also on her list: size 18 month clothes, FP Laugh & Learn tea set, Cinderella DVD (to have when she is older), and bath toys.

Definitely something as a keepsake for her first Christmas. A few educational toys, maybe a membership to the zoo or museum (you know something activity based) and hopefully a little something for her 529 plan.

We are getting DD a Pottery Barn Kids anywhere chair and a personalized ornament for Christmas, along with a book or two. Her bday is January 3, so close to Christmas. I got a pack of five Melissa and Doug wooden puzzles off zulily. That's all she's getting from us for her birthday. She'll get plenty from other people for both occasions.

books, we chose 3 nice hard covers, which I think will also become a tradition
1 toy, I think it's going to be legos or a puzzle, depends on what the grandparents get her.
Bday (1/10):
a toy, a water/sand table or a little riding car, again depends on what she got for Christmas
$ for her college fund
We are planning on doing pjs, books, and a toy for Christmas each year. In addition, she gets a Christmas stocking with smaller things in it. This year I think it will be socks, a few hairbows, toothbrushes, and a small toy.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
We bought a wooden play cube at a consignment sale, which will be our main Christmas gift. We will also give her pjs on Christmas Eve. I like the idea of a book tradition, so we'll probably do that with stocking stuffers and let everyone else spoil her. I'm not sure what we'll do for her birthday, but again it will probably be one thing and let everyone else spoil her.

We also got her the anywhere chair! I just love them and they are well made so I am hoping will last a long time. Not sure what else yet, prob not a lot since she will get so much from everyone else :
