Diflucan for yeast infection?

I was just prescribed this yesterday.  I am debating whether or not to take it based on results from google searches.  Has anyone else been given this during pregnancy?

  • I took it last pregnancy.  This time, my ob stopped prescribing it due to some new research and only prescribes creams.
  • My OB told me to use creams and wouldn't prescribe Diflucan. Not sure why...I just did what I was told, and it eventually went away. I also bought unscented body wash which helped also! I soon as I bought unscented Dove bodywash...my yeast infections stopped. I literally had reoccuring infections for 2 months.

  • I was getting yeast infections left and right during first tri and I started taking these and haven't had one since

  • I have been getting a yeast infection about every other week (they've been miserable).  I finally said something to my doctor, I always thought I could just wait it out.  He prescribed me Diflucan, I took the first pill Tuesday and I already feel so much better.  I take the last pill tomorrow and I should be 100%.  I don't think it's a big deal.

  • Fluconazole 150 is great because its a 1 to 2 dose over a week med then your done.. Just remember, medicine is a practice, and not always a science. Different dr's see different things and there isn't too much testing on us pregos so its difficult to say exactly what could do harm and to whom. Yeast infections are as common as runny noses so I would believe your dr has given this to gangs of pregos. But I can tell you I'm a pharmacy technician and I've dispenced hundreds of dose packs and I've only ever seen one adverse reaction and this lady wasn't pregnant. It made her verrrrrry sick to her stomach. I've also heard of people benefiting long term from oregano oil capsules but I do not know if they're 100 safe for pregos either.

  • Yogurt works like a charm!  You just insert it vaginally and let it stay there for about 15 minutes.  Just make sure you lie down and rest while it is doing its thing.

Someone on here mentioned a garlic tampon working really well too.

I don't like to use the meds vaginally, so these are safe alternatives that are just as effective!
