Did you register somewhere where you wanted to or where you knew it would be easier for people to shop. I have already registered at buybuybaby and feel I could get everything i needed there. However, a lot of my family lives about an hour away and i know Target would be easier for them. However, i have heard such bad things about Target's return policy. Should I stick with one store? Register at both?

I split my registry between BBB and BRU because about half my shower guests were closer to a BRU and the other half were closer to a BBB. I aslo made sure to include items in a range of prices at both stores.
I aimed for both. But I instantly regretted getting a Target registry. My shower was in April and the baby was born in May. Yesterday I needed to look at my Target registry for a return (Crane humidifier stopped working) and would you believe Target STILL had not updated the items purchased?! This was just one of many problems with the Target registry, but this was a big one. You could never tell what was purchased and what was not because it was never updated properly. This caused a lot of confusion and inconvenience for my family and friends.
You could always do both, and keep up on monitoring what's been purchased so you can delete from the other store as needed (if you aren't sad about being 'surprised' at your shower with what you are getting).
I registered only at Amazon since all my family & friends live out of town and would be shipping anyway, but received several of my gifts from Target or BRU. Most of them were items I had on the Amazon list, so I still got exactly what I want. It just took a little extra list management on my part, and I did get a few duplicates that required some exchanging. Not a huge hassle.
You are also likely to get several items not on your registry (usually clothes and baby blankets). It just sort of happens that way.

My mom said the same thing, but regarding their bridal registry.
I registered at Target and Babies R Us, but both registries are fairly small. My baby shower is Saturday, and my mom is telling me to add stuff that people are asking about. I think if they want to buy it and think I might need it, they should. I had no idea what I'd really need and didn't want to put a bunch of high priced items on the list.
I registered at BBB and Target because there is not a BBB where some of my family live and one of my showers were held. After all 4 showers and pretty much everything having been purchased, I have only 1 item to return - and only because I'm the idiot that registered for the wrong kind of bathtub.
I got EVERYTHING off my Target registry (it was small) and didn't have a single return.
I think you will be fine.
You can just mark it as purchased and then return it.
