I just had my 35 week appointment and my Dr. does not want to see me back for 2 weeks (I'll be 37.1). My c-section is scheduled for 37.6. I am on bedrest, but it's more precautionary than anything else (no complications other than never ending BH).
I am a little concerned that we are not having NST's at all, though that seems like the normal procedure for twins - even di/di with no complications.
Does this sound normal to you guys? Should I be worried and insist on NST's until my c-section?
Re: NST's for di/di twins?
12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!
I had di/di twins with no complications. From 31w on they saw me weekly. They did growth scans every other week and a BPP every week--but just the u/s part without the NST part. I never had an NST for some reason. IIRC they said if they had seen anything concerning on the BPP they would've done them.
Are they doing BPPs for you? I'm a little shocked they're not having you come in for 2 weeks when you're that far along with twins.
The only appointments I have scheduled now are a growth scan at my MFM during weeks 36 and 37 and an OB appointment during week 37 for a regular check 5 days before my c/s.
I'm starting to think that's not good enough.....
I've been seen more often by my OB since 30 wks because of complications. Even if I had no complications, though, I would have been seen weekly by my OB starting somewhere between 32 and 34 weeks. I started having twice a week NST's at 34 weeks, and that is just standard practice for all twins (I have di/di, mo/di or others may be seen earlier for NSTs).
The NST nurse the other day was telling me how fast she sees things change with MoMs especially- one day there will be tons of fluid, looking great, then no fluid just 3 days later. And there are other issues toward the end like pre-e, etc, and that is why MoMs are monitored so much especially toward the end- things can change rapidly. I would ask for weekly OB appts, but I think the NSTs or BPPs are more important to check on the babies- my OB appts are quick, the other appts would actually detect fluid, heart rate, movement probs, etc.
Who does the NST's - your MFM or OB?
