DD is 20 months old and has learned to climb out of her crib. I don't think she's ready for a toddler bed. she's all over the place at night and I don't think she'll stay in a bed. Advice please!
Once they start climbing out they are in fact ready for a toddler/regular bed. It's not that terrifying just a new adjustment. Bed rails and a gate for the room is a must.
Both our sons crawled out around 17 months, we figured out that our older son was using the thick mattress to bounce and flip his leg over. We weren't ready to transition him yet (however, they mostly took naps in the crib and co-slept at night in our big bed after a yr old), so we took out the thick mattress and cut down a twin thin foam mattress pad. It was comfy enough to sleep, thin enough to keep him from jumping out and gave us a few more months use of the crib for his naps. GL
I'm somewhat lurking here. When DS started trying to climb out at 15 months or so, I bought a sleep sack for him. He had JUST started napping consistently, and sleeping at night without waking a ton, and I was not about to mess that up. He's 22 months now, and the sleep sack is the norm, and he has never climbed out.
Re: Help! Climbing out of crib
she's less likely to get hurt climbing out of a toddler bed than a crib.
if the crib is on the lowest setting and she can get out, it's a sign that she's ready to transition.
