I'm in the Air Force and my days are so hectic, I only seem to get maybe 2-3 hours with LO if that! I wake up at 5 am (after waking up two times in the MOTN to nurse DS), pump, make myself cream of wheat IF I have time, and then get ready for work. DS wakes up at around 6, I nurse him and get him dressed and ready. We leave the house at 6:20 and then I'm commuting to get to work for my 7:30 shift. 9 hours at work- I don't get to DS until around 5 pm. I bring my son home, feed him, bathe him, read a bedtime story, ect. and he's out before 7 pm
. It's going to get really hectic around the holidays when we start 12 hours shifts. I love serving, I love my job- but it's starting to get to me that I'm not getting a good amount of bonding time with my kid. I guess this is just a sad vent
.
On a lighter, more grateful note- my supervisor is giving me next Tuesday off because I've been doing a fantastic job in my new position. I can't wait to spend that entire day with my son!
Re: The life of an Airman...
Aw, he's a cutie in your siggy!! I think your schedule sounds just about like most working moms on here. It stinks sometimes. However, I will say that it seems to get better as they get older. I don't know if it's just because they can interact more when they are awake or you just get used to it, but it gets better. Hang in there!
Edit: You know, it really seemed to slow down a little when the extra pumping stopped! I forgot about the pumping. I did it for a year! Once we were down to just nursing without my pumping, life seemed to slow down a little. Good job on breastfeeding! Keep it up! Know that you won't be attached forever (and then you go and get pregnant again like me and get to start all over again! LOL)
Hey there! I responded in your thread on the Parenting board. I'm also military. Former Air Force, now Navy. You're doing a great job. I know it's hard. Trust me. My H is also military and we struggle with our schedules sometimes.
This is a great board for working women. And by the way, your LO is ADORABLE.
I hear ya! I see my son for literally 20 minutes Monday through Thursday. I wake up at 5:00, get him up at 5:45, get him dressed and take him to school. I get to work at 6:30 and usually get off at 5:00 then drive to school which goes from 6:00-10:00. But the time I get home at 10:30 I make my lunch for the next day, pack clean scrubs, take a shower and get ready to repeat the next day. I so look forward to the weekends and more than 5 hours of sleep and all day with my two important men! It's hard and I'm so looking forward to the day when I get to be home for dinners and baths and all that.
And thank you for your service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is greatly appreciated what you and all of our amazing men and women in the armed forces do for us!
Thank you so much!! It really means a lot to us to hear/see people say that.
