First midwife interview

I had two midwifery practices to interview and I met the first midwife today.
I really liked her.

Now I have no idea how I'm going to choose because I thought I was going to love the other one.

Exciting!!

Anyone else interviewing midwifes right now?

We are using the same practice that delivered DD, and there are five midwives in the practice. Every appointment we have is with a different midwife that way we will know whoever is on call when it's our time to deliver. I really liked all of them though.

I'm going to be interviewing MWs too. In fact, I'm needing to work on my questions to ask at the appointment. Specifically, for a VBAC homebirth. Any suggestions on questions to ask? What did you ask?

I'm at a "fork in the road" if you will right now.  I'm considering home birth but DH doesn't like the idea and I have no idea if my insurance will cover it.  There a well known, wonderful home birth midwife here that I'd like to interview but I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger.  

Dumb question, do you go to see an OB at all or just see the home birth MW? 

I guess I should at least shoot her an email and ask.

I'm about 90/10 right now towards HB MW. Unless there is a problem with my pregnancy, I will not be under the care of an OB at all.

I'm not sure what questions to ask about a VBAC, but they should let you know if they accept vbac patients.

If we do HB MW, it will be totally out of pocket, but it will end up being about the same as the cost with all of my copays and OOP max. Maaaaybe a few 100 more but for the difference in experience and not waiting for any unknown surprise bills in the mail 4 months down the road from delivery. I got a surprise 1000 bill from the hospital 4 mo pp

From what I can tell we're looking at the same OOP costs as well.  I just emailed the only HB MW in the area (that I know of) to set up a Q&A meeting.  We shall see!
