I labored for 20 hours (3 hours of pushing) before they decided it was go time and we just had to have a C-section. My recovery was tougher than I imagined it would be, but honestly I never really thought I'd have to have a C-section. It took a good two weeks for me to be able to move around on my own and a week even before I could get out of bed alone. I am hoping with this RCS my recovery time will be better since I won't have to labor before? Anyone have that experience and could give me an idea of what to expect? Thanks so much!

I wasn't in labor when I had my emergency c-section but it was a get her out right this second situation so they were pretty rough. My recovery sucked I was in so much pain and it took a while to get to moving around. I had my repeat at 6:30pm and was up and moving around by like 8ish the next morning. It was so much better in terms of the pain.
Labored for 27 hours with a few hours of pushing and then did a C-section. I slept through them sewing me up and 3 hours in recovery...meanwhile family and friends enjoyed snuggling my baby before I really saw him. (Still makes me cranky). The first couple days were rough, but after day 3 things weren't too bad.
Section #2 was planned, I was rested and was up walking around that evening. All-in-all a better experience for sure! I think it also helped that since I knew I was having surgery I was able to set a short visiting time that first evening for the grandparents and then only had very close family/friends visit that next day.
The only thing I was nervous about is being so lucid and aware of what was going to happen (including spinal) because I was so out of it the first time and just wanted the baby OUT...but just before it was time to go in baby's heart rate dropped and it turned into a near emergency so there was no time to think or worry!
With my 1st I labored for 17 hours and 9 of those were "true labor" and baby's heartrate started to drop so they got my in for an emergency c section. The recovery on that was horrendous. Took much longer to get back to my normal and feeling good.
With my 2nd I was pushed for a RCS but my DR at least let me try for a Vbac and I labored for about 7 hours with him but I wasn't progressing so my Dr set me up for another c section. The recovery with this one was still hard but not nearly as hard as my first. Which was especially nice because not only did I have my newborn to take care of I had a 2 year old as well.
And with this one my 3rd I am just going for a RCS and I am hoping to have "the best" recovery I can hoping I don't go into labor anything before my scheduled c section date.

This would make me so mad! I actually have it in my birth plan that DH and I get to see our babies first (before other family/friends), even if I need time to recover from my c-section. I hope the nurses follow that rule :-/.
