FF question

Hi - 

We are expecting our first little one in the next month or so!  We are going to be FF and I have a question or was hoping some may be able to share their experiences.  I was thinking that only DH and I would feed the baby for the first 4-6 weeks, no one else.  This way she gets used to us, we bond etc.  Does this sound unreasonable or just strange to think she will bond with us if we are the ones that feed her and no one else?  Thoughts?

We allowed basically all of his visitors to feed him... no problem with bonding at all.  He looks at us or just hears our voices and smiles and coos.  They won't have any problem bonding with you if you did allow other's to feed her.  But whatever you decide is completely your choice... no wrong way about it!  It was just important to us to have him bond with others too.  GL

My daughter is 11 weeks old and we still only allow three other people to feed her-my mom, my brother and my aunt. Even then they only started in the last few weeks. It's mainly because I'm a neurotic first time mom.

Sounds a little weird to me, but it's your kid so you get to make the rules.

I let the nurses in the hospital feed DS overnight the day he was born. He had no trouble figuring out who mommy and daddy are.

That seems strange.  You can bond in other ways.  Honestly, you might want the break once in a while.

Ok, good to hear.  I was thinking about it and the more I did the more i seemed to questoin it but wanted to kinda just bounce it off others for a reality check

She will bond with you guys even if others feed her. I am assuming this is a traditional in the sense living situation where the 3 of you will be living together, not with family members who could also be considered primary care givers. I wouldn't worry about others feeding her during a visit. If you aren't comfortable at first with it then just express that to them. But, she will know who her mom and dad are.

We let anybody feed her. For some strange reason, people really want to feed her. She still has bonded with us!

This. When I visit my parents they love to feed him and I love the break, especially at 3 am.
