Skin Deep

So I am at my wits end and am not sure what to do.We took my daughter to get photos done about a month ago and the next day she had these little bumps on her face. Show them to her Dr and he say oh its just baby acne and just put water on it and vasaline. Fast forward to her Drs appointment a week ago and the bumps seem to have receded but now shes got this horrible dry skin, almost reptilian. Showed that to my Dr and he said oh that's normal just use vaseline. I am not trying to be vain but its almost like her cheeks are chapped and I don't know what to do. Should I take her to a dermatologist?  Should I try lotion instead of vasaline?

Re: Skin Deep

  • It sounds like cradle cap, which is very common, as was the baby acne.  For the dry flaky skin, just wash it gently and rub the skin off.  Use unscented lotions only, or vaseline like the doc said.  I wouldn't bother with a dermatologist, both things you described are totally normal for a newborn and will go away pretty quickly.

  • I would try A&D ointment before you move on to any other lotions. Make sure you don't use soap on her face.
  • And don't worry, any (decent) photographer would be able to edit that out. =)

  • Try putting some drops of breastmilk on her. I hear that the liquid gold works on skin issues, diaper rash and even ear infections.
