Newbie and Q- EEG

Hi, we are currently looking into our DD possibly having Complex Partial Seizures. Her first EEG is scheduled soon and I was told that she would be sedated. If your child has been sedated for an EEG, how did they go about sedating them(oral med, IV)? I know I will find out the answer to this soon, but I can't keep my mind from thinking about it. This whole process is just beginning for us and I already feel so overwhelmed. Thanks for any experience or insight you have to offer!

I just wanted to give you *hugs* for the upcoming procedure.  My DD has been sedated a few times now, and even though it was for brief periods, it was the scariest part for me of the entire experiences.  However, they all went well, and she did great.  I hope that your LO has the same experience.  If you have questions, I was told to also call the anesthesiologist before the procedure, and they can give you a little piece of mind with what things they will be doing.  It helped me to talk to the person who would be doing the procedure to question specific things that I was worried about.

Carson was never sedated for his EEGs, but he was recently for an MRI.  They used a medicine that was but up his bum - he was out in about 4 minutes.  After he woke up, he acted like a drunk frat guy - laughing and giving everyone kisses.  We were told some kids get really irritable after they wake up, because they don't understand why the feel messed up.

Hope it goes well for you guys!
