I voted 2.5 but it can be any of the first 3. It depends on who I'm talking to/context. If I'm talking to another mom with a kid that is close in age it tends to be in months. A random person it is 2.5 now that she is 29 months old.

I always say he turned 3 in June. Most people assume he's quite a bit younger than what he is, because he was a preemie. When he was 2 1/2, I would usually say 2.

DD2 is 27 months, so technically 2 1/4. I usually say she turned 2 in July or that she's 2. We're at that weird in between age. I think kids still change so much between 2-3 years, and people usually ask bc DD is tall for her age or they're comparing what stage their 2 yo is at.

DD will be 3 in Jan.  Just recently, I started saying "She'll be 3 in Jan."  Around July/Aug/Sept, I just said 2.5.  I guess I just round to whatever benchmark is the closest.

Depends on the situation.  Some times I say 2, usually when I am in a hurry or don't really care to sit and chat with the person.  I will say 2 1/2 when I am feeling more chatty to strangers/other moms or we are asked by someone when we are buying admissions tickets.  Sometimes I say she will be 3 in December, when I know the person a little better, medical professionals, and when I am inquiring about lessons for DD (many of the baby and me classes end at 3 and I am looking into getting her into preschool aged dance/gymnastics classes this winter.)

my girl is tall for age so i've always just said she's 2.5 even when we were a couple months shy of 2.5. now that we're two months from 3, i say "she'll be 3 end of year"

I agree with pp.  It was hard to pick one because I say all of them depending on the context and who I am talking too.  If I want her age to be known because she's playing with older kids I say she's 2 (like if they're being rough or teasing).  If someone really wants to know and I know that they'll get that a few months makes a huge difference I'll say she's 2 3/4 or that she'll be 3 in Jan.  If I'm talking to someone who really doesn't care one way or the other I say she's 2 1/2.  etc

I used to say 2.5 because he turned 2.5 in July. Now that we're getting closer to his birthday I just say when he'll be 3.

It depends on who's asking. A sweet old lady in the grocery store? The kids are 2.5 and 1.5. Another mom at a mom group? DS will be 3 in December, DD will be 2 in January.

 I just started saying "she will be 3 in" because we are closer to her 3rd birthday now (February), but I've been saying "2 1/2" for about 5 months now.
