I hope you don't mind if I post here. I would really like some advice from other ladies my age. If this post is inappropriate here, please let me know.
I am about to go through my 2nd m/c in the last 6 months. I have a DS who is almost 2, conceived through our first IUI. We have been TTC #2 since August of 2011. I am 37 1/2 (funny how the 1/2's start coming back into play now).
I had a chemical pregnancy in April and am going through a blighted ovum right now. I always knew I would have a hard time getting pregnant (endo) but never realized I would have a hard time keeping it.
Anyway, my question is, have any of you ladies ever had 1 or multiple m/c and are pregnant now? Again, I'm sorry if this is not a good place to ask, I'm just looking for some hope as to whether or not we should keep going.
Re: Advice for another TTC after 35'er - PgAL
I had two children, one with the help of IVF, and then lost my next two pregnancies. I was tested for repeat pregnancy loss (which included blood clotting issues and immune conditions) and then with my next pregnancy I was treated with steriods (dexamethasone), baby aspirin, blood thinners, high doses of progesterone and folic acid and also IV intralipids in an attempt to help me maintain the pregnancy. My son was born last July and I am pregnant again.
Losses are very often chalked up to genetic abnormalities, in which case it may just be bad luck and there wouldn't be anything you could do to change the outcome. In my case, the babies were tested and found to be chromosomally normal so then we were looking for other reasons I may have lost them.
I'm so sorry for your losses but please know that there is always hope for another successful pregnancy. I would ask your doctor for the repeat pregnancy loss testing. Many say it's not necessary until you have three losses but I would definitely still ask and push for it.
Kelly, Mom to Christopher Shannon 9.27.06, Catherine Quinn 2.24.09, Trey Barton lost on 12.28.09, Therese Barton lost on 6.10.10, Joseph Sullivan 7.23.11, and our latest, Victoria Maren 11.15.12
Secondary infertility success with IVF, then two losses, one at 14 weeks and one at 10 weeks, then success with IUI and then just pure, crazy luck. Expecting our fifth in May as the result of a FET.
This Cluttered Life
I had a miscarriage last year at 8 weeks pregnant.
I'm now 41 years old and 25 weeks pregnant.
BFP #1 - missed m/c 4.18.11 found @8w3d, d&c @13w
BFP #2 blighted ovum found 8.2011 @8w, misoprostol
BFP#3 - missed m/c 6.11.12 @ 9w3d, d&c revealed extra chromosome 15
BFP#4 8.10.12, DD born 4/26/13
I am so sorry for both your losses. I had a chemical pregnancy back in June and now I'm pregnant again. Everything this time around seems to be going as it should.
I agree with pps-- I would ask for repeat loss testing. Especially because at our age, we don't have time to take a year to conceive and then go through another loss.
GL!

I am sorry for your loss. I had a loss last year due to trisomy 13. I then had a chemical pregnancy late last year. We then proceeded to IVF. My first IVF earlier this year resulted in a blighted ovum, which I eventually miscarrried around 7.5 weeks. Since we pretty much knew I had poor egg equality, we just assumed this blighted ovum was due to that (I had transferred 4 embryos and none were good enough to make a baby).
This past IVF we transferred 2 embryos and both stuck. I am 10 weeks today.
I know it's so hard to hold onto hope. During my darkest days after my d&c from my first loss, I didn't think I could ever have hope again.
I agree with the RPL testing, if you have had recurrent losses, it would be good to have this testing done.

Expecting Boy/Girl Twins! My babies were born 4/23/13 at 36w1d!
Sorry for your loss. I had 3 mc's before my DS. I was able to have one of the embryos tested, and no chromosomal abnormalities. Doc also ordered the RPL panel and it also showed that I was healthy. My OB suggested I start progesterone at ovulation and that resulted in the pregnancy with my DS. Followed the same process with this pregnancy and am finishing up progesterone this week
My advice would be to request the RPL testing and see if there is something going so that you can move forward with that info. Good luck!
So sorry for your losses. I've had to m/c and several chemical pregnancies. The cycle before this bfp I had a chemical, I pretty much figured that cycle was a waste but here I am.
I know the cause of 2 of my m/c and I can only assume all the chemical's were due to natural reasons such as chromosome issues because I did the rpl testing and it all came back negative. It's so hard to hold onto hope when you're going through all the highs and lows of ttc, I still struggle with that, but look at all the responses you have here, that's a really good reason to think that you will be successful.

You have all been so sweet - thank you. I got choked up reading the responses. I am so very sorry for the losses you have experienced. I will be getting RPL. I have a RE who I trust and who has worked with us since 2009 when we started this journey.
Thanks again for taking the time to respond and I hope I can come back and be a regular part of this board soon!
