infant breast milk for toddler

Is there anything *wrong* with giving breast milk (pumped for a 1-month-old baby) to a 20-month-old kid?  My 2-month-old has food allergies (we're still trying to correct it) and I won't want to experiment with pre-diet breast milk until he's 6 months old.  I don't think my early milk will be good by then.  I can give it to my son or give it away.  I will still be giving lots away anyhow, but giving at least a little to my older son would make me *feel* better.  Worst case scenario, it won't do him any good.  Anyone know?

Re: infant breast milk for toddler

  • I would think it would be better than any alternative, since it is human milk.  It might be more tailored for the infant and be a bit less caloric/fatty than it would be for a toddler, but it should still be better than non-human milk.

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

  • I don't think it's a big deal. I've given breast milk to my toddler before, so I hope it;s fine, anyway.
