Monday Confessions

My confession is that I think the whole breastfed-babies-get-sick-less-often theory is bull.  I think it has more to do with whether or not the kid is in daycare.  Maybe we just have bad luck, but I swear CK, who was EBF, has spent more time sick than well throughout her first year of life and I'm - well - SICK of it.

Sorry, in a shiitty Monday mood because - you guessed it - CK is sick.  Again.

BFP#1 1/31/11 ~ CK came on her due date, 10/10/11!
BFP#2 11/20/12, EDD 7/30/13 ~ heard heartbeat at 6w2d ~ mmc discovered at 8w
1st medicated cycle ~ 6/11/13 ~ Clomid ~ BFN
2nd medicated cycle ~ 7/12/13 ~ Clomid and trigger shot ~ BFN
SHG on 8/13/13 ~ uterus looked good!
Diagnosed with DOR on 8/16/13 ~ AMH 0.27 ~ repeat AMH 0.19
3rd medicated cycle ~ 8/9/13 ~ Femara and trigger shot ~ BFN
4th medicated cycle ~ 9/4/13 ~ Bravelle, trigger shot, IUI ~ BFP! ~ EDD: 6/11/14 ~ heartbeat of 118 at 6w3d ~ mmc discovered at 9w1d

Re: Monday Confessions

  • It is 8:51 and I have already eaten a Reeses PB cup.

My co-worker just came back from maternity leave and is having a hard time with leaving her son at daycare. I feel guilty because last night I was asking DD "when do you go back to daycare?" and I was a little relieved when I dropped her off this morning.

I am sorry CK is sick again. That really stinks. Maybe she is getting it all out of the way and will be the  kid who wins the award for perfect attendance in elementary school.

  • Sorry to hear CK is sick again.  We struggled a lot last year with Nora while she was in daycare (I'm still BFing too).  She had 4 ear infections by 6 months old!  I started becoming a SAHM at 6 months, and we've been ear infection free so far.  I'm sure we will get sick some time soon, because it seems to be going around.

My confession is that I'm turning 30 on thursday.  Every one of my friends who have turned 30 before me make it such a traumatic milestone, but I don't really mind the next decade arriving at all.

  • Ha, well I think the studies dont' really say that BF babies get sick less often but rather that when they do get sick the symptoms are less severe. I know that this seems to really be the case with RSV. But who knows? We haven't had any ear infections yet, but I am pretty sure we have one long never ending cold.

  • Yeah, I feel like R has had a nonstop cold since he started day care in August-and he only goes 2 days a week.  I'm with pp, though, because this is going to happen to all (or most) kids when they start school-we're just getting it over with now.  I don't have a confession yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time...

  • I am having a bad cold now. If bfing does anything, the kids should not get it, right? Stay tuned for the results of my little science project here.....

My confession? I just got back from the doctor for my six weeks pp check up. I am cleared for everything, but lifting heavier than 30 pounds. I told DH it was 20 so he will carry Alastair more often. I am bad. But honestly, it hurts my belly and my back. The kid is heavy!

  • I think that the BF/immunity thing is really just statistical and doesn't make a huge difference on the individual level. DD was EBF until this summer and while she has never had an ear infection, she had a snotty nose and a fever for like 6 months straight last year. There are so many different factors in immunity, you know? A teacher friend of mine told me that every kid is guaranteed to go through it at some point, so you might as well get it over with.

My confession is that DD and I are taking her little best friend to Build a Bear and lunch today for the girl's birthday present. I lied right to DH's face about how much I am spending on it. I have squirreled money away here and there for weeks so it's not going to take food out of our mouths or anything, but still...if DH spent this much on something I'd be really irritated.

  • My confession may be a little gross to some ..  Every time the wax starts coming out of L's ears I can't wait to pick it out. I don't stick my finger in her ear canal, just the outer part when the wax is visible to the naked eye. I don't know why I like doing this, I do it to DH too haha.

And just now, my other confession is that, as I was typing this, L almost ate part of my magazine.. Bad mommy.

  • I was subpoenaed to testify as a witness in a case for work.  I used to like this part of my job, but this happens to be abotu 4 hours away from home and would require an overnight stay.... away from DD.  :(

Confession #1: I am one of those crazy moms who has not missed one night of putting DD to bed.

Confession #2: I am doing EVERYTHING I can to try to get out of this, but the prosecutor is not cooperating thus far.

I honestly don't know what I am going to do if I have to go.

I'm one of those crazy moms, too.. so I can understand how you're feeling. I'm not sure what I would do if I were in your shoes.. could you  take your DD w/ you?

  • Sorry CK is sick again. We have been going through the same thing with DS being sick from 3 mos up to now with only a few breaks. He is extremely sick right now. Hope she is better soon!

My confession is that I feel a bit bad for laying into DH last night since his birthday is today. Today is also his first day of "reform school" that I imposed on him after I verbally tore him a new one for not stepping up to the plate. I actually got to work by 8:30 this morning because he got up shortly after I did and helped out more. Yippee!

  • My confession is that I am hiding a certain thing from SO's cousin....who I am really close to. We were talking about Gator's birthday and I was mentioning people who had yet to RSVP, one of them was her husbands father and step mom. She said "oh X and Y aren't going to come down, they wouldn't even come to their one and only grandson's first birthday because they didn't want to make the drive...."

i just got an email from them saying they are coming to Gator's birthday. If I was in this cousins's position, I would be extremely pissed and hurt that my son's grandparents didn't want to make the drive to their grandson's first birthday....but then would make the drive for a cousins's kids first birthday. I haven't said anything to them about the RSVP, and I don't think I am going to. I think if I say something, it's going to sit and stew with them until Sunday when the party happens and they will be fuming. As selfish as it may sound, I don't want to deal with family drama when it comes to Gator's birthday (I have already been dealing with a lot of it). So I am just going to let them see at the party and fume about it after the party.

I confess that I would have gone on the crazy train months and months ago if I had never had a single evening away from T. I love him to absolute bits but I believe we are both better off if mommy has a little alone time now and then.

Seriously, just go. It's really not that big of a deal. You are probably making a bigger deal of it in your head than it really will be. Honestly, I think it is a problem if you can't be away from each other for one night.

As a SAHM, DD and I get so much time together.  Having DH put her to bed a couple times a week aids in my sanity.  I have been away from her overnight just a couple of times, and she did great.  I was in panic, but she had no issues whatsoever.

  • I am taking DD and DH to Chicago for a work conference so that I will not miss putting DD to bed.

  • Well then it looks like I need to confess this one: I applied to a job that I'm not particularly interested in just because it specified that applicants have to be available for training and regular travel to LA.

Getting paid to STTN? Where do I sign?
