As a wrote few days ago I have a BA in organization and management - field HR (10 being my average grade). I have more then 5 years work experience in administrative jobs and later in being head of department, where I did two job recrutings for our firm.
I am going to this job fair this week and I have read a tone about how you have to be dressed (I bought a formal trousers suit) and how it is very important to come up with "killer" 30 second introduction. So now I am scared as I do not know what to say and what not.
I have to say that I did only two job recrutments for our firm and I am pretty new in HR working experience so anything in HR sector would be great for me for the beginning.
This is like my last opp before I would have to accept a job as a cashier (we need money so I will have to accept anykind of job) next week so I am doing everything possible to start a career in the sector that I love.
Any advices are more then welcome!
Also I was SAHM for last two years so this is also the reason I am a bit anxious.
If any of you have been on job fairs as job seekers or recruters any experiences are more then welcome.
P.S.: I have prepared as far as it goes of doing research of companies that will be there and I wrote a sample cover letter and a CV. I have also a copy of my diploma. I am also a mediator so should I bring that up? Any other docs needed?
Tnx!
Re: Job fair - need help
First, have confidence in yourself. Instead of saying 'only two' use a spin on words and say you have placed multiple candidates in your firm. Sell yourself by focusing on your skills and talent. Being the lead of a department is a huge accomplishment and compliments your degree and 5+yrs work experience.
It sounds like you have done your research. Introduce yourself, use eye contact, a firm handshake and speak with confidence. GL!
