L is recovering from a viral infection as we head off to her first year check-up, so I don't expect her to get shots at the visit, but looking at the vaccination schedule it's getting ridiculous. MMR, HepA, polio, Varicella, HIB, Pneumococcus, flu, .... If you already had your 1 year checkup, did your little ones get all those at once?

He says his alternative schedule won't overwhelm young immune systems, but it still provides complete vaccine protection.

Elle - LBB got 4 shots at his 1 year, MMR, Chickenpox, Hep A, and the first of his flu shots. They happen so fast and he was pissed when they happened, but by the time we left the office he was all smiles again.
I'm not going to quote everything, since that would be excessive, but michpedelle, I'd do a lot more research on vaccinations if I were you, especially before posting what could only be interpreted as a recommendation to others to follow blindly.
* First, it is arguably more cruel to subject a child to needles/pain/trauma every couple of weeks, rather than getting at once, where they're upset after the first prick, so much so that they probably aren't even aware of the remaining. I know my son hasn't reacted any differently when getting 1, 2, 3, or even 4 shots.
*Second, if your doctor is recommending getting 2 flu shots at once, I would definitely seek a new pediatrician. The reason for giving 2 flu shots is because the first one is generally ineffective, but the second isn't effective unless it is spaced out from the first. All research points out to spacing them by a month. Giving 2 shots of the same vaccine at once is no different than giving just the one, ineffective shot. So basically your doctor is subjecting your child to ineffective medicine.
* I'm curious about your research regarding MMR, since all the negative media surrounding it are about autism, and that's been disproven (or at least the studies connecting it have been admitted to be fraudulently falsified.) Given that we've had deaths in my county due to measles for unvaccinated babies, I can't imagine not giving this one to my child.
* Quoting Dr. Sears, especially on this board, is ridiculous. There has been research by the CDC as to timing and effectiveness of these drugs. Dr. Sears relies on Herd Immunity for his alternate vaccination schedule, and we all know how those of us October 11 moms feel about Herd Immunity. And again, his philosophy of not giving kids vaccines until they're more likely to contract the disease doesn't work when people aren't vaccinating their children or following the alternative schedule. Which is why we've been having outbreaks and deaths due to illnesses that had long been eradicated.
I have always only done 2 vaccines at a time. One on each leg. I will do 3 if one is an oral vaccines.
ETA: This was also when she had itty bitty legs.

I asked my doctor to space them out. We did MMR and flu and 12 mos. At 13 mos we will go for Varicella, Flu booster and Hep-A. My doctor gives HIB and Pneumococcus at 15 mos. Look at the CDC schedule and discuss with your doctor. Some shots, like Hep-A, can be given anywhere between 12 and 23 months... and Hep-A isn't as big a deal if you don't travel or aren't at high-risk.
Bottom line is you should be able to feel comfortable dicussing this with your doctor. You doctor should recommend and you can agree or disagree. But in the end, you are the parent.
Of course, if your child is in daycare, you have to stay up-to-date with the state rules.
DH took DD for her visit & I'm a bad momma b/c I don't know exactly what she got. I know she got 5, though. The one's I do know is MMR, Hep A, Chicken Pox & Flu. I don't know what the last one was.
She got her shots appx 3 weeks ago and still has a bruise on her leg from one of them (no clue which it was).

ANSWER - I FIND THAT IT IS WAY MORE CRUEL TO SUBJECT A NEWBORN TO 3-4-5 SHOTS AT ONCE NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE PAIN BUT BECAUSE OF THE WAY THE BODY WORKS WHEN IT FIGHTS A VACCINE. GETTING 1 OR 2 AT ONE TIME AND GOING EVERY 4 TO 5 WEEKS SEEMS MUCH LESS CRUEL TO ME. THEIR BODIES ARE SO LITTLE AND NEW AND LETTING THEIR BODIES FIGHT JUST ONE OR 2 AT A TIME SEEMS BETTER.

ANSWER- NOT ONCE DID I SAY MY DOCTOR WAS DOING 2 FLU SHOTS AT 1 TIME. GO BACK AND READ AGAIN. IN FACT, I CLEARLY STATE THAT WE ARE GOING BACK NEXT MONTH FOR DOSE 2 FOR THE FLU SHOT. WE NEVER GET 2 SHOTS OF THE SAME VACCINE. IM NOT AN IDIOT.
* I'm curious about your research regarding MMR, since all the negative media surrounding it are about autism, and that's been disproven (or at least the studies connecting it have been admitted to be fraudulently falsified.) ANSWER - MY DOCTOR AND I DISCUSSED THIS AND THERE IS NO OUTBREAK OF ANY OF THE MMR IN OUR AREA THEREFOR I CAN WAIT UNTIL WHEN WE FEEL COMFORTABLE GIVING IT TO HIM. PROBABLY AT HIS 15 MONTH VISIT OR AGE 2. WHO EXACTLY HAD DISPROVED THE LINK TO AUTISM? WHERE DO YOU DO YOUR RESEARCH PROVING THIS? OR DO YOU JUST LISTEN TO EVERYTHING THE CDC SAYS?

ANSWER - I CAN QUOTE WHOEVER I WANT. CALLING IT RIDICULOUS IS PRETTY RUDE CONSIDERING WE ALL CAN HAVE OUR OWN OPINIONS. THE OCTOBER 2011 BOARD IS JUST THAT, A BIRTH MONTH BOARD... ITS NOT SPECIFIC AND I AM SURE THERE ARE OTHER MOMS WHO FOLLOW AN ALTERNATE SCHEDULE. I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER QUOTE THE CDC, I DONT TRUST THEM. JUST LIKE I DONT TRUST THE FDA. ALL OF THESE ARE RAN BY OUR GOVERNMENT WHO JUST WANT YOUR MONEY. YOU CANT LISTEN TO EVERYTHING SOMEONE TELLS YOU AND I DONT FOLLOW EVERYTHING DR. SEARS SAYS. I POSTED THAT FROM DR. SEARS TO SHOW THE SCHEDULE HE FOLLOWS.
GLAD I COULD CLEAR THAT UP FOR YOU.
OH AND EDITED TO ADD THAT I DID NOT ONCE TELL ANYONE TO FOLLOW WHAT I SAID BLINDLY. AND I NEVER SAID I WAS WAITING UNTIL HE WAS MORE LIKELY TO CONTRACT THE DISEASE NOR DID I SAY I WAS NOT VACCINATING. HE WILL GET ALL VACCINATIONS AND ON TIME. HE IS NOT BEHIND ON HIS VACCINES. THE CDC, AS YOU FOLLOW, HAS A CHART FOR IMMUNIZATIONS AS I AM SURE YOU ARE WELL AWARE AND IT SHOWS A TIME FRAME OF WHEN THEY SUGGEST THE IMMUNIZATION. IT CLEARLY SHOWS THAT THE SUGGESTED RANGE FOR MMR AND VARICELLA IS 12-15 MONTHS SO IF I WAIT UNTIL 15 MONTHS IT OKAY. HES NOT BEHIND AND I DONT RELY ON HERD IMMUNITY. DONT PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/parents/downloads/parent-ver-sch-0-6yrs.pdf HERES THE CHART FOR YOUR REFERENCE FROM THE CDC.
