DS will start daycare in 2 weeks and I'm very nervous about him sleeping. For him to take a nap I give him a little formula to relax him a bit, and then put him in the crib with the hair dryer on. It's the only thing that puts him to sleep. Do you think there is any way a daycare would leave a hair dryer on next to a baby's crib? Are there any noise machines that make a similar noise? I have a white noise machine, but it's no where near loud enough.
I'm also worried about over feeding him since I have to give him the bottle to get him to sleep. I'm going to call the dr tomorrow to see if I can give him about 4 oz of water twice a day to get him to sleep.

Re: sleeping at daycare
Take a deep breath and try to relax. LO will be fine, and I gurentee they will be able to get him to sleep without a hairdryer. It may take a few days for him to adjust, but I promise he will sleep and will adjust.
As for the eating, they will feed him what you instruct them to feed him. So, just tell them his schedule and trust that everything will be okay.

Ha, ha! I'm sorry. The hair dryer thing made me laugh. My LO still falls asleep to the sleep sheep at home, but they will not put a hair dryer on at daycare. There are other kids there. It's not just your child.
My baby slept really well when she first started daycare at 3 months old. They know what they're doing. As for feeding, my daycare fed and let LO's nap on demand. They learned DD's cues and fed her and put her to sleep based on those.
I honestly learned so much from my DCP's. They know a heck of a lot more about kids than I do. Also, DD loves them and is so happy and healthy.
You will be surprised. I was so nervous about this because ours still don't nap great at home for us.
They don't always nap awesome at daycare, but will usually get an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. They started them in swings, but have started moving them to cribs now, so I am hoping it will benefit us at home as well.

Babies will surprise you. My son, who won't fall asleep without me at home (we've tried), puts himself to sleep at daycare in 10 minutes. He only naps once a day there, but takes 2 a day at home. Their routines will not be the same there as they will at home.
I agree with PPs. LO will be just fine, even if he doesn't follow the same schedule (which he probably won't!). They have lots of tricks and techniques for helping little ones adjust and get what they need, and they should probably work well with you to figure out what works for LO (maybe just a little short of a hair dryer though).
DD was horrible about sleeping at dc for a long time actually, but dc worked with me a lot to try different things. They rocked, and swaddled, etc., etc. Now she's an awesome sleeper at dc and home! And even when she slept poorly at dc she wasn't crabby, just wanted to take everything in!
