FF question

We ff. DD is consistently eating 4 oz every 23 hours. She's starting to seem like 4 is not enough... My question is do i do 5oz and estimate a half a scoop or do i go up to 6oz so i can do 3 scoops. We use Similac sensitive.

Re: FF question

  • We use Enfamil gentle ease and our pedi said to increase by .5oz each week.  So I use half scoops and even 3/4 scoops!  GL!

  • You could always make up a 2 to 4oz bottle and keep in the fridge to add to the bottle you are giving her. So that way you have it made up for a couple feedings and not have to worry about the half scoop
  • Yes, just use a half scoop.

FYI though - you're not supposed to go over 32 oz of formula per day.

I've been trying to keep true to that and don't think I've gone over. She seems hungrier at night so i think we'll up her bed time bottle to 5 and leave the rest at 4.

  • Why is the rule 32 oz max a day anyways? I've heard it and stick to it but haven't known why. My pediatrician has always just Said feed whenever she's hungry.

  • that is a guideline but every LO is defferent. Your pedi will tell you if Lo gains too much weight and if and when you should back down formula amount. Until then feed Lo what they want. Some days my LO eats a ton and other days not so much. They have growth spurts. My LO drinks 4 oz at night and the rest of the time its 2-3oz

Who made up this rule? Probably not someone with a screaming hungry baby.

Right! And is this for a specific age? I had never heard of it, we always fed on demand (still do).
