Suddenly crying after feeding?

Hey All,

So our little one is 2 months 3 weeks old. She's been doing pretty good so far but suddenly the past week or so, literally the second we pull the bottle from her mouth after feeding, she starts to cry. Not Fuss..but cry.

Now we did have her on gas drops per the pedi but she told us to cut back some so I don't know if that suddenly did something. It doesn't happen ALL the time but seems to happen a couple times throughout the day. We do notice it never happens at night when we give her formula.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is this normal. Also, the minute I pick her up and start to burp her she stops crying as well. She doesn't cry during the feeding..i should of made that clear.

 So puzzling...

Re: Suddenly crying after feeding?

  • Maybe she is still hungry?  Try giving her a little bit more (half ounce at a time) and see if she takes it and keeps it down.

Yeah we actually did do that. We upped her 1/2 an ounce and she still cried a little. :o

  • Our LO started doing this also. We figured out that he was still hungry so we just fed him a little more before stopping to burp him.
  • Dairy sensitivity? If you are BF cut it out and see if it helps maybe?

  • My little guy does this when he wants more or has a gas bubble and needs to burp. He is a very gassy guy. To soothe him, I give him fennel drops (Colic Calm from Wish Garden) or, since I BF, I drink fennel tea so he gets the benefit. Since your baby stops when you burp her, I am guessing it is gas.
  • Maybe reflux?  My niece had it and my sister would keep her upright during feeding and a little while after and it helped her a lot.  It sounds like it could be a possibility if she stops crying when you change her position.
