If your on LO#2

Hi there, I am about 7w pregnant with LO#2. With LO#1, I was a regular execiser, cardio, weights, and crunches (but was still a size 14). I exercised regularly throughout my pregnancy and in general had a great pregnancy. I only gained 30lbs and felt great. LO#1 is now 2.5yo, and I am still a size 14, but I only irregularly exercise and I definitely don't feel as fit as I used to. I am super tired compared to LO#1, which of course starts the vicious cycle of not exercising v. being too tired. I am very nervous about getting to 40 weeks and being completely immobile and gaining 60lbs or something. Did any experience anything like this? How was your 2nd pregnancy compared to the first? Any words of wisdom or advice? TIA!

Re: If your on LO#2

  • Before DD I went to the gym 3x a week. That stopped the second I found out I was PG bc I was so so so exhausted first symptom was not being able to get through a step class!.

I never went back to the gym after that. I got PG with DS when DD was 35 months. With both I put on about 25 lbs I'm 5 ft even and was 100 lbs before DD and about 105 before DS.

DD was an ECS and DS was a VBAC so the recoveries were totally different. But yes, I was exhausted all the time during my second PG and it was a lot harder on my body. But I think a lot of that had to do with age I'm 34 compared to 30 with DD plus chasing after a preschooler while PG.

  • With DD, I was fit, I ran regularly, did small triathlons, and did Pilates.   I stopped most activity however in the first tri due to placenta previa.  I gained 45 with DD and was 125 Pre-preg.  Two years later with DS, I was 130 to start, most definitely did not do as much exercise and was so so so much more tired throughout the entire pregnancy.  I gained the exact same amount.  I also feel that I didn't eat as well during this pregnancy either, yet despite the lack of exercise, fatigue, and poor eating, I gained the same amount. I was also an emergency c/s with DD and a VBAC with DS and feel a million bucks better tbs time around so hopefully the pounds continue to fall off quicker!

  • My first I gained 29 lbs and didn't exercise or anything. I lost all of the weight by 10 weeks PP just by BF. when I got pregnant with #2, I gained 28 lbs. I was really tired and had a lot of nausea and heart burn. No exercise but was chasing DD1 around too. Lost almost all of the weight already at 10 weeks PP. second labor was worse and longer, but a quicker recovery and a lot less time bleeding after. Both were vaginal deliveries with epidurals.

I think having a child to chase after keeps you from gaining too much weight. The hardest part for me was being so tired and feeling like I wasn't doing enough physical activity with DD1. GL!
