Yeast infection in neck?

Our LO has bright, bright red around his neck and it gets wet. We went to pedi and he perscribed a medicated powder. We put it on 3x a day and it dried up, but his skin began to peel,They told us to stop, but then it looked great! Now it's back :(  bright red and wet.  It seems to come out the most after he STTN in his RnP.  Anyone else have this issue?

Re: Yeast infection in neck?

  • Yup. It's gross. We used corn starch and I wash the area real well and make sure it's completely dry!

  • My LO had a similar area on her neck last week.  I used diaper rash ointment on it and it cleared up in a day. My LO sleeps in a RnP but I don't think there is caused by STTN  in the RnP. I assumed it is from her nursing and having milk dribble down her neck.  I try to be more careful about wiping her drool/spit up milk to help prevent it.
  • We had this issue too.  Used Monistat to treat it.  Now we make sure to clean up dribbles well and dry his neck folds well after bath time (sometimes we use baby powder on it but not often).  I've also started putting our CJ's Butt-er on it which has worked really well!

  • Our pedi told me not to do the butt paste (our paste of choice) bc he said, not to put wet on wet. But, we used it before our appt and it worked well. The powder ripped his skin off. So confused, bc the butt paste is working but is it just masking the infection and not curing it?
  • If its truly yeast your pedi should prescribe nystatin cream, just like they prescribe nystatin for thrush.
