Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Feedings

My son eats 2 baby foods per day, one fruit and one veggie. 2 6 oz bottles and 2 8 0z bottles. I have several questions?

In order to make formula last should I start introducing meats at night?

Also should i decrease to one 8 oz bottle a day?

I am just leary of introducing meats. Any help would be great!

Re: Feedings

  • Um, how old is your LO? To me that does not seem like enough food.
DD is 11 months, has 3 solid meals, 3 snacks, and she nurses 6-8x/day.

  • You can introduce meat, but don't cut formula fewdings yet. Babies will often self wean and cut ounces themselves.

  • You could try things like ravioli to introduce meats in a softer form. Or, and I know this is not meat, but try veggie hot dogs, veggie "chicken" nuggets, or tofu as a way to get more protein. DD loves her veggie dogs, nuggets and tofu. Have you considered just giving your LO some of what you're eating at dinner?

  • Meat should be fine to give at this point. You can puree it or try "soft" meat like Rosebud said above. My DD loves tofu, deli sliced turkey and pulled chicken.
