Postpartum Depression

Up In The Air

We found out a couple of weeks ago that my husband will be starting a new position in the restaurant chain he works for, in a new city.  It's only an hour from our hometown, so we'll still be able to see our family lots.  That's not the big deal.  I can handle the change.  What I can't handle is that finding a place to live there is so damned hard!  We can't afford a lot as far as rent goes, so that narrows our search, and we also have a dog, which makes it 80% more difficult on top of the low budget.  Yesterday we went to the new city to continue our search, and we found a place that is suitable for us.  The property manager was really nice, and said our application form would just be a formality if we wanted the place.  We had a couple of other places to look at, so we took the form with us.  After a whole day of searching, we didn't find anything else we liked as much, so we filled out the application.  But there was no contact information for the guy on it!  So we called the office to find out where to bring it.  They closed at 1pm, and won't be open until Monday at 9am!  So now we have to wait all weekend to even submit our application, and then probably a few more days to get the OK from the building owner...  so even though we called and emailed them to say we want it and were told we could pretty much have it if we wanted it, we don't know for sure for almost another week!  I can't even start packing or changing our address, or rent a damn truck until we know!  And hubby has to start work in the new town on the 5th!!  Argh!!

  • That is frustrating. Moving sucks no matter what. We've always had pets too and it does limit your choices so much. Have you started packing some things you don't need every day, like home decor, etc? GL!

  • Yeah, we definitely started packing. My walls and bookshelves are bare! But now my husband is saying that if we can't find something if this one doesn't work out that we won't be moving for a while, and he will turn down the new position. I really hope I can get hold of the property manager on Monday!
