Pregnant after 35

Got a BFP Yesterday...Just Turned 40:)

Hi ladies,

I never thought I would be posting here... I POAS yesterday and got a BFP, then had a blood test to confirm.  My first Beta was 93 13DPO and am praying for doubling at my next draw on Monday.  I am a nervous wreck and still can't believe we were able to achieve conception naturally just three days before my 40th birthday.  We actually were scheduled for our first RE consult yesterday when I decided to POAS.   I am still in disbelief.

I had the worst cramping and flu-like symptoms last night that hit me like a ton of bricks.  I did not sleep at all last night...just tossed and turned.   Thank goodness I feel better today.   I am praying that I get to stay here......

I do have a question about progesterone and when it might be needed for pregnancy.  Prior to my BFP, I did one round of Clomid 50mg because my progesterone level was 6.1; on day 21 it was 16.97.   Does this have any bearing on whether or not I will need to take progesterone?  Do progesterone levels get checked again as part of the first OB visit?  I realize I am jumping the gun, but am trying to stay positive that my Beta will double and that this bean will stick.

I look forward to being active here.... H & H 9 months everyone!

Me, 41; DH 38; TTC since July 2012, 1st round of Clomid, BFP on 10/19, what an incredible blessing!  M/c on 7w3d; D&C on 11/30; 4th round of Clomid 100mg = BFP on 04/19!!! Beta #1=95, #2=182, #3=404!  EDD 5/4/13...Grow baby grow!

  • Congrats and Welcome!! Most beta draws will check progesterone levels as well, you might want to check with your Dr. and make sure thats being measured. Alot of the time they won't even tell you the progesterone # unless its a concern because progesterone numbers tend to vary from day to day.

  • I have no advice on progesterone, but several ladies here are very knowledgeable. I just want to say hi and congratulations! Crossing my fingers that you've got a nice sticky bean in there!

  • Thank you ladies for the warm welcome!  Also, thank you for letting me know that I should ask my doc to order a progesterone lab with my next beta draw.

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!
