Auntie- hernia in umbilical cord at 10 weeks.

Today I went in for a routine ultrasound at 10 weeks. Everything looked great other than a tiny hernia in the umbilical cord. Doctor said that this was completely normal as long as the bowels go back into the stomach by 12 weeks. Has anyone else had this? I am so so nervous and would appreciate any information or experiences you would be willing to share. Thank you in advance!!!

Re: Auntie- hernia in umbilical cord at 10 weeks.

  • I have! My brother had this, he had a slight hernia left when he was born and they repaired it at 6 weeks old, that was it. I also had a friend in high school that did too, but the hernia never healed. He was born with his organs outside his abdomen, which they fixed at birth . I'll never forget that, since we started a fund to get him a belly button, since he didn't have one, due to the surgery. It was really cool to us at the time. He had a few follow ups growing up, but didn't have additional problems (he was also fairly athletic). Oh, and we donated the fund to the food bank, since he liked the idea of being different.
