Pregnant after a Loss

Intro and question re fluid around sac

Hi everyone. I am coming out of lurking - I' m 5w1d and as I've had four previous losses, I'm taking this all one day at a time. I'm sure many/most of you can relate. :)  I got my BFP about a week ago and had my first appointment today with my RE.

As I'm so early, he couldn't see much - except he said the gest. sac was a "perfect bean" - (there was no visible yolk sac, which doesn't worry me (yet)). However, he did seem slightly concerned that there was fluid surrounding my sac. He said it could be a possible impending m/c or just...nothing. I was wondering if anyone else here had fluid around their sac at an early u/s? I haven't dealt with that before - but I've also never had an u/s this early.  I go back in one week to follow up.

Thanks in advance - and best wishes to everyone here.

  • I'm sorry I don't have any experience with this but just wanted to say congratulations on your BFP and wish you a perfect pregnancy!  One thing I have noticed, is that in those of us with these issues, they sure seem to find a lot of stuff on early u/s that they just aren't sure about.  I think it's because early u/s are not commonly done with routine pregnancies and doc's just don't have data for all the stuff they find.  I truly hope it is just a scare, those seem to happen a lot!!
TTC 10/2009 BFP #1: Missed m/c at 8.5 weeks 11/10 BFP #2: Missed m/c at 10.5 weeks 8/11 BFP #3: Missed m/c at 9 weeks 2/2012 BFP #4: 8/21/12, EDD 5/4/13. So far so good, fingers crossed, hoping and praying with all of our might for this little bean....

Thank you for responding! I feel exactly the same way - we get all these extra loads of tests and care, etc. and sometimes I think they just see things they wouldn't normally see b/c they don't do these on everyone!

I also wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses. We seem to have similar history. I'm so excited to see you are 11 weeks! Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy!

  • Welcome and congratulations! I have not experienced fluid around the sac, so I don't have any advice. I hope that things look better at your next appointment.
