Has anyone thought about your baby' first outfit. You know the outfit he will be wearing home from the hospital. I am looking for the prefect outfit and I am having the hardest time to pick that specail one.
I waited until it got closer to my due date, because then the "seasonal' thing were out. For DS, he was born in December, right before Christmas. So it was easier finding cute Christmas themed ones (he wore a "Special Delivery" onesie home). For this baby, I'm waiting until the cute spring ones come out to get one!
I've been looking in a lot of the boutique type stores (online mostly), and I'm really confused/disappointed. Most of the "take me home" outfits are gown style (with the elastic around the bottom), how are these people getting their babies home? You can't put the LO in a car seat unless you pull that gown up around their butts, and I'd rather not expose the LOs legs, no matter what the weather is like! I'm going to keep looking....
Naw, I'll wait and see what outsifts we have from showers and if anything will fit him... I'm more than happy to bring him home in a plain sleeper that fits him. I don't understand dressing up for coming home. I'll likely be in some yoga pants, so he doesn't need to be better dressed than me.

We opted for practicality and comfort - it was a really cute, simple footed pajama outfit.
I honestly don't understand the fancy outfits some parents put their kids in - frilly dresses, headbands and whatnot. They seem super uncomfortable for a poor baby not used in being in clothes.

This. That baby just came out of the most comfy place on the planet. I just wanted him to be comfy (same with #2). I got a white sleeper with stars and moons on it (team green) and our Jan. baby will probably wear the same thing.

I loved those gowns--so cozy and nice for diaper changes! Newborns are so little, you can safely buckle them by bringing gown just below the butt. There usually is enough fabric to stretch over the legs if necessary, but you can also just put a blanket on their lap and some cute socks or booties,
We have over an hour of driving to get home so I put DS in one piece jammies and a snuggly bear jacket for warmth. I will probably go for comfort over cuteness again so we don't have to pull over on the highway because baby doesn't like the pants.
DD was a Winter baby (Dec 30), so she wore an adorable pink fleece sweatsuit set with a matching onesie underneath that said "Let it Snow." As a PP said, wait until you are closer to your EDD because the outfits will be more fitting for the time of year.
I am due at the very beginning of April, which is an odd time of year, so I will be taking both a cold weather and warm weather outfit, just in case. That's all the thought I've put into it, so far.
I found the one for the baby at gap.com. I love it, and was shocked it was so inexpensive. My DH is not crazy about it, but whatever! lol! It's simple, and special to me.
We have a bit of a tradition going on in my family. The outfit my mother purchased and used for ME when I came home from the hospital 29 years ago, was used by all my siblings, a few cousins & one niece. So I knew right away any kids I had must wear this to come home.
Since the place where my mother purchased it still exists, I went and bought something too when I was pregnant with my first. The outfit that belonged to me is yellow & it's very soft linen....and it was actually hand made in the store. My mother has the WHOLE outfit, down to the socks! So I went to the store & purchased a crochet/knitted type outfit in white with yellow trimmings...and matching blanket. When my son came home he wore part of my outfit underneath his new one. It was very awesome to have wear something I did & that is what #2 will come home with as well.
this is the best pic I have at the moment to show the outfit.

FI's parents brought him home in a full infant tux. She still thinks it was the greatest/cutest thing ever, and I've seen the picture, and he just looks really awkward.
We'll probably just do something like this, with some fleece pants/cardigan and a cute newborn hat
My mom wore ducks home. She me me in ducks for my coming home outfit. Ironically DH wore ducks home. So naturally were keeping the tradition and our twins will wear ducks home!
First thing I did after we found out this one is a girl was go buy a cute "little sister" outfit I had seen for a coming home outfit. Its a Carters one, similar to the one PP posted, but long sleeved dark pink onesie with pink and white striped pants, with the matching cap and mary jane socks.

With DS, I had a whole little "outfit" with a cute onesie and little pants and tiny soft jacket and matching hat. We put him in it, put him in the carseat, drove home, and all fell asleep. "Why on earth did I care so much?" is what I wondered when we woke up and I changed him into pjs and a gown. LOL This time we are going with footie jammies from the start!
My husband went out and bought her the cutest little purple outfit that he was so proud of and I love so we decided on it being her coming home outfit. For my husband to willingly walk into a baby store by himself and buy a girly outfit is amazing and I want to encourage it.
I have a few things in mind to choose from. A wool longies outfit, soft little pink dress, sleeper thing, etc. Not sure what I'll end up going with though, lol. The birth center is about 7 minutes from our house so it's not like we have a particularly epic journey, lol.

That's adorable. Your son has awesome taste.
Anyone else thinking Harry Potter? ...No?

I'm due Dec 20th and I'm anticipating lots of snow and cold weather since I live in the UP of Michigan! DH and I picked out this adorable sleeper:
