Babies: 0 - 3 Months

rotavirus liquid given

My DS was given the rotavirus gunk, forgot about that nasty pointless stuff, and since he got the dose...he's been spitting up even more than he already does!! How long will it take for him to not spit up everything and eat normal?? Never again with that stuff

Re: rotavirus liquid given

  • It depends on the baby. DS didn't react to his rotavirus vaccine at all, luckily. I would still continue to vaccinate your child on schedule-I think spitting up is a lot better than a potentially fatal disease.

  • How is it gunk?  wasn't it just a liquid?  Sorry to tell you, but your LO need a couple more doses.  I wouldn't stop giving it to him because he is spitting up.  It could be unrelated to the vaccine.

  • It is an unnecessary vaccination just like the flu shot and pneumococcal. I'm all about natural medicine..that's my choice.

    From the CDC:

Pneumococcal disease has high associated morbidity. Pneumococcal meningitis can cause hearing loss, seizures, blindness, and paralysis. Concurrent cardiac events are common among patients hospitalized with pneumococcal pneumonia.

I'd much rather DS get stuck with a needle than deal with any of the above.

  • That's fine..but my DD received the pneumococcal vaccine and had severe pneumonia 3 times!! Two times required a week stay at a crack..back to back.

Some people are resistant to vaccines, yes. Your DD is a special case. Most children are not.

You sound very contradictory.  If you are all about natural medicine and find it unnecessary, WHY did you let your LO get the vac in the first place?

This is my question. Being opposed to vaccines for your child is one thing, but if you are, then why did you allow them to be given? I'm not going to go spend money on a new dress and then walk around talking about how much I hate dresses.

Actually her DD is probably not a special case and probably not resistant to the vaccine.  The pneumococcal vaccine only protects against certain strains.  There are many it doesn't protect against.  It certainly is no guarantee your child won't get pneumonia!
