moms of 5 pounders

Would you mind telling me your babies' growth/weight stats?

My babies were born at 36 weeks 5 days and were 5lbs 5oz and 5lb 4oz.  They have both had some feeding issues and I know they are low on the growth chart.  I am trying to ignore the growth chart and just focus on getting them bigger, but I'm curious as to how other smaller babies grew.

Mine are now almost 4 months--DD is 9lbs 5 oz and DS is 10lbs 4 oz.

Re: moms of 5 pounders

  • Well, my children are enormous, so keep that in mind.

    They were born at 34weeks and were 5lbs 12oz and 5lbs 3oz.

At their 4 month check up they were 18 and 16 lbs.  I am also almost 6ft, so I suppose our children may be larger than the average child.

  • I am trying to ignore the growth chart too.  Mine are 6 months and both were exactly 14 pounds each

  • I had a 5# 7 oz. girl-- at 4 months check up she was 12# 9 oz.

    I had a 4# 12 oz. boy-- at 4 months check up he was 10# 2 oz.

  • Mine were 5 pounds, 3 oz. and 5 lbs., 1/2 oz. and at their 4 month appt. (it was really at 4.5 months)...they were both 13 pounds, 3 ounces.

  • I was 36 weeks and 3 days and Patrick was exactly 5 lbs and Connor was 4.6.  At their almost 4 month check up last week Patrick was 11.8 and Connor was 11.3.  That was in the 1st percentile for boys of the same age.

I wouldn't worry about how much they weigh.  It's going to take them awhile to catch up.  What's important is that they are gaining!

  • My girls were born at 36w5d, too.  They weight 5 lbs. 11 oz. and 5 lbs. 7 oz.  I don't have exact weights, but both were on the charts by their 2 month appointment.  Charlotte is and has always been somewhere in the 5-10th percentile for weight.  She had acid reflux and some GI issues as a newborn and was never a big eater.  Once she started solids, she ate much more, but somehow has a good metabolism and has just been a peanut.  Evelyn, on the other hand, was a big eater as a newborn and by 4 months or so was in the 50th percentile for weight.  At some point she went up to the 60th percentile, but as a toddler has thinned out and now is in the 40th.  When the girls were a year old, they had a weight difference of 3 lbs!

  • My girls were 5#1 and 5#14 at birth.  We go in for our 4 month check up this week, but by our inexact home scale they are both just over 13 pounds right now.
  • My girls were born at 36w5d too! Allie was 4 pounds 11 oz and Madison was 6 pounds 8 oz. The girls are now 13 months old and Allie weighs about 18 pounds- not even big enough to turn her car seat around. the growth chart is hard for me to look at. Really hard. Allie is FINALLY as of her last visit is now on the charts- 5% but she is one! Try now to worry too hard, trust me I know how hard that is but they will be ok.
