I start a new job on Monday and I'm soo used to lost sleep from my two month old, I'm soo nervous about how I'm going to pull this off. I'm a first time mom and LO is sleeping every 4-5 hours through the night but I'm not sleeping
I guess I've just got a lot on my mind... Any suggestion for getting in a routine of being up and ready to go by 7am to drop LO at the sitter and be at work by 8am?
;(
Re: Starting work and can't sleep!
Prep EVERYTHING the night before.
Set EVERYTHING in the same place so you can just grab and go.
I leave for work at 5 so my DH does the AM routine. It's no stress for me at all! So, I suggest that too. ;-)
That happened to me, too, and I thought how is this ever going to work?
It got a lot better after the first few days back at work. You can work up a lot of anxiety just thinking about how you are going to solve every problem
What worked for me - I took a hot bath every single night and had a small glass of wine. I let thoughts float out of my mind. I read a book. Anything to not just think about work and babies before I went to bed!
Then, I made lists. Lots and lots of lists. That way, you feel more in control of your day. Exercise if you can. This also helps ease anxiety. Do everything you can the night before.
You will be fine,a nd you will start sleeping. It's tough at first, but I promise it gets better!
I get as much done as I can the night before. The first week back I was super organized. I had all my clothes for the whole week picked out, I used gallon ziplock bags to pack up his needs for each day of the week like outfit, paci, burp clothes, etc for going to grandmas while I was working, etc., put all the pump stuff together the night before, etc. I have gotten less organized as I have been back to work but it was really helpful for that first week LOL.
You also need to get into the habit of going to be really early. I am SO bad at this. I want to have my time to just unwind after he goes to bed, but unfortunately if I stay up until 11 pm, I then have to wake with him at 2 am and then 5 am so I get no sleep. Be ready to go to bed as soon as your LO goes to sleep if you can. I also take a Benadryl an hour before I plan on going to bed to help me feel tired enough to sleep.
Thanks for the feedback... I'm glad i'm not alone in not being able to fall asleep when LO falls asleep, I guess a glass of wine would help with a book, or movie. I just want to make sure it doesn't get in LO's milk when it's time to feed. The doctor told me a 2-4 four gap is ok after one glass (4oz). That's about the time she would wake up to eat so it should be fine.
Thanks Ladies!
