What meds for reflux?

We are getting pretty close to putting Julia on meds for reflux (her weight gain is ok, but not great; she doesn't seem to be in tons of pain, but the projectile vomiting isn't getting better and she's fussy at the beginning of feedings).

If your baby is on reflux meds, which one and why that particular one?

 TIA!

Re: What meds for reflux?

  • LO is on zantac.  That's what our pedi prescribes first for reflux, then if it doesn't help they go on from there.  Fortunately it has helped a ton.

  • My DS takes Priolsec.  We tried him on Zantac first but it didn't seem to help and he was breaking out in a rash.  I'm not sure if the rash was from the Zantac but I figured why take the chance.  The Priolsec has really helped him.  Good Luck!

  • both our girls are on prilosec. it's nice bc it's only once a day and it's liquid and goes in their bottles. we also do 1tsp/ouce of rice cereal.

  • Lila started taking Zantac, which wasn't helping very much.  She started taking Prilosec a little over a week ago and  we are just starting to see results.

  • We use zantac and bethanecol (spelling may be off). Zantac deals with the acid and bethanecol helps with his lower GI motility problems.
