NIghtime Feeding

So the peds doctor sad that I can let my LO sleep as long as she wants to at night instead of me waking her up every 3 hours to feed. She is gaining weight just fine. Has anyone else been told this?

  • yes. we were at the doctors for my daughters 1 month check today and were told the same thing.  As long as baby is gaining well and has passed their birth weight our doctor said we did not have to wake for feedings at night.

  • We were told we could let her sleep up to 6 hours. So far she only sleeps longer than 4 hours once which means i am up between 2 and 3 in the morning.

Yes. In most cases once baby is passing birth weight they no longer need to be woken to eat.

This. Once baby got back up to her birth weight, we didn't have to wake her anymore.

  • We've always just fed on demand, right from day 1 and he's gaining weight just fine.

This. The past 3 days DS2 has slept for about 5 hours after his 11/midnight feeding. That's the only time he sleeps for that long and I have to say I'm grateful. I made sure this was ok with our pedi at his 2 week visit yesterday and since he's back to birth weight she told us it was perfectly fine.
