Adoption

hello.

I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I've been reading along for about a month and have posted one or twice on the board.

I'm from California and the mother of two daughters; one who is alive and one that is not. My eldest daughter is 3. We lost our second daughter during the sixth month of pregnancy; she had a rare syndrome that was not compatible with life. It's been a heartbreaking year. We're an active, outdoorsy family and spend most of our weekends and free time traveling with our daughter.

We have always been interested in adoption. We plan to wait 1-2 years before starting the process to allow plenty of time to grieve. At this time, we're not sure if we'll pursue domestic or international adoption.

Nice to meet you all.

I am a mother to two daughters. Our first is a lovely and vibrant three-year old. Our second, passed away during the sixth month of pregnancy (June 2012).

Re: hello.

  • Welcome to the board!!  I'm so sorry about your daughter, that is so heartbreaking.  Good luck on the adoption journey, both international and domestic programs are great choices, I suggest You Can Adopt as a book that is very introductory and explains the different types of adoption and process.

  • Welcome! So sorry about your daughter. My husband and I have one living son, who will be 3 on the 26th. Our second son was stillborn last year at 22 weeks gestation. I have mostly been lurking lately as our adoption plan is on hold as long as we have our 17-year-old foster daughter living with us. But I just wanted to say something because we have such similar stories, at least on the surface. Hope to see you post more, and good luck with your decisions.

Hi, buggerfly12. I am so sorry for the loss of your son. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I take comfort in knowing that there are others out there who have experienced this loss, but it's heartbreaking that anyone has to go through this. Anyways, thanks for popping in and saying hello. Best wishes.
