Hi ladies,
I have a FF 8 week old that sleeps between 8 and 10 hours at night. The problem is, I can't get her down before 11pm or midnight. Once she is asleep, she will sleep straight through until 8 or 9 AM. This isn't a big deal now, but it will be when I return to work in 2 weeks. We need to be up by 6 AM.
Any suggestions how to change this? Start waking her up earlier? Will it work itself out with age? I have tried a bedtime routine, but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
Thank you!
Re: 2 month bedtime
this!
My LO was similar in that age, he wouldn't go to bed before 10pm. He has been in daycare for a month now and he has pushed his bedtime back to 8:30 on his own. I just started noticing that he was very tired around 8 or 8:30, red eyes and hungry, so I went ahead and started his bedtime routine and it worked like a charm. Now he's in bed by 8:30 or 9:00 and sleeps until 6am which is when I get up anyway.
So my advice is to let the baby set his own routine. When you start waking her at 6 or 6:30 to get ready for the day and go to daycare, she will be tired and she will gradually adjust herself and her schedule.
Thank you so much for all your thoughts ladies! We had one good night this week...she went to bed at 10:30. The other nights were midnight. I've also noticed that she seems to need me in the room to sleep. If I'm not, she wakes up. I don't know if she can smell me, or what, but it's definitely strange. She sleeps in our room, and I definitely think it's time to move her in her own room and hopefully soon, start letting her fall asleep on her own.
You have given me hope that, with a little work, this can get better!
