So who is getting their tubes tied after this one? This is our 2nd baby and I will be 38 with this one and this will be our last one. Not getting any younger.....
Thinking about doing the Essure procedure a few months out, don't want to have to think about getting my tubes tied in the middle of the crazy hormones during L&D, that will give me some time to think it through. Plus, it's supposed to be more effective than getting your tubes tied.
This is our 6th baby and while we have decided we are complete, it is Dh's turn to "take one for the team," so he's getting a vasectomy. Less invasive = less risk, easier recovery, & more affordable.
He's getting what is called a "no scapel vasectomy." It's done in the Urologists office under local anesthesia. They make a small puncture in the scrotum, snip the vas, quickly cauterize it, and it's done. It doesn't even require stitches because the puncture is so small. The urologist told us it takes 10 minutes tops. We're doing it on a Friday and were told he'd be ready to return to work by Monday.

My friend got her tubes tied and her husband got snipped, just to make sure they definately do not get pregnant. That is what I would really like, but I can't quite talk my husband into yet. I am trying though.
I have APS and will be getting my tubes tied after this LO. Once I am off blood thinners at 6 weeks I will be going in. Second child over here as well.
I will never get my tubes tied. No matter if I'm done having kids I just won't be doing that.
I'd never advocate someone getting their tubes tied, because I've done it, changed my mind on having kids( left my abusive husband and found a wonderful new partner/hubby that we wanted a child together), had the reversal surgery and had multiple problems with ectopics, not to mention the physical pain of the reversal surgery, the subsequent ectopic pregnancy pain and the huge financial investment(whether it's the reveral surgery,8000 dollars, or IVF, minimum 10000 dollars).
A vasectomy is a safer, much more superfical surgery and easier to reverse.

While I totally agree that in most cases a vasectomy is much easier choice, I am the one with the health issue, so I know that because of my APS I will not be having another child, regardless of the circumstances.
I'm contemplating it since I'm having a RCS, need to discuss with my OB though.
This, I haven't looked into any options yet. My DH has also offered to have a vasectomy, but it will be easier to just have it done during the RCS. I am just also not sure whether I am ready for a permanent solution yet, even though I know we are done having babies.

Makes sense. I still never advocate for elective intra-abdominal surgery given the amount of patients I've seen with bowel obstructions from previous abdominal surgeries and adhesions. Given that a tubal is laproscopic(unless it's immediately following a csec...then they already in there) the likelihood is much less though.
We're not done having kids after this one (LO #2) because we want 3 potentially 4. H and I have discussed what we plan to do when we are done having kids though. I was all for having my tubes tied since I'll be open for a RCS anyways but the hospital I have my babies at won't perform tubals. (Catholic based hospital) So H has been informed that he can get a vasectomy or run the risk of a baseball team because I'm not going to go somewhere else to get another surgery. Besides... like SARARN said... it's too permanent and expensive for me to do it. He can get it reversed easier if we change our minds.

DH will be getting snipped after this one. We looked at me getting a tubal since I may need a RCS (my first was a CS, my second was a VBAC and I'm hoping for another VBAC) so we were going to do it during the CS if I had one. But my doctor said that in the very slim chance that a tubal fails (which does happen) there's a very high risk that the pregnancy will be ectopic. Since the only risk with a vasectomy is an unintended pregnancy versus a life threatening situation we have agreed he will get a V regardless of how I deliver.
I want 3+ kids, but I'm really scared my husband is going to insist on a vasectomy after two. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. But I have a friend who basically tricked her husband into getting her pregnant, so I would rather be disappointed but honest than that.

I don't plan on ever getting my tubes tied. DH and I are both young and could have perfectly healthy babies for 10yrs or more...
I have very strongly considered being a surrogate after our first. My lifelong best friend has struggled with fertility issues and I would LOVE to bless her, and other families who have been through that, by carrying their children.
I have Hyperemesis with this pregnancy (severe morning sickness) and I also had it with my daughter. I get extremely sick, lose a ton of weight, and have to be on home health care because of the dehydration. I don't think I could mentally or physically handle another pregnancy so my husband is more than willing to get a vasectomy so that he doesn't ever have to rinse another puke bucket for me again .

Same here.
We aren't done having children, but when we are, we've discussed that FI will be getting a vasectomy over me having major surgery.
