I see further down someone posted about difficulty nursing with a 10-15 birth kiddo. My milk is in and particularly at night I am having huge problems getting him to latch. Last night was a 45 min attempt. I don't know what I doing wrong and Im nervous to call an LC because I feel like they will judge if I supplement with formula. (they did it at the hospital because we had issues every time latching there, even with nurses helping). Any pointers would help. Also, I tried to pump and nothing...investigating that further this morning. I think that has to be human error. Trying to hang in there but want to give up. Our baby was born 10-12.
Re: Help!
A good LC will never judge you! Your priority is to feed your child, either through breast milk, formula, or a mix of the two. When I was working with my LC at the beginning, she told me to supplement with formula until my milk fully came in if I needed to.
A PP mentioned using a nipple shield. I used one and it really helped DD's latch. I use it for a week or so and weaned from it and have been nipple shield free for weeks.
This. I had trouble bfing at first anh had to get help. It's common.
