Need some advice.

I'm not quite sure what to do about swaddling. We use the swaddle me wrap right now, but he breaks out everytime he gets in it. He gets his arms out, no matter how tight out is and then wakes himself up. We've tried the traditional blankets, didn't work. He is trying to roll onto his belly when he's on his back.

Recommendations??

  • Try leaving that arm out like pp said. We re trying to transition out of the swaddle now and have been leaving one arm out for 3 nights. Also make sure that your swaddle is super tight.

    Another thing to think about is if the baby is really fighting to get their arms free, they may prefer a legsonly swaddle. Both my kids are this way, they fight like mad to get their arms out, and then settle.I do an aa arms out swaddle, and it works wonders for us.nbsp;

    DS is the same; he prefers his arms out. He likes to sleep with his arms above his head.

  • We use both the Summer Swaddle Pod and the Woombie.  (We have the summer weight Woombie right now and have ordered two winter ones.)  Basically, they are sacks that zip up, so no messing with blankets.  I like them because they are super stretchy and baby can still move her arms and legs around.
  • I use the swaddle me, but I cheat a little. Instead of leaving his arms in, I pull his arm down and swaddle with the hand sticking out of the bottom part. He tries to get his hands free for maybe 2 minutes, but because the hand is sticking out of the bottom of the crossover pieces he can't break his arms free. It works along similar lines to the houdini swaddle but only requires the swaddle me, not two blankets.

  • Agree with everyone else, I swaddle my lil lady from the armpits down and let her arms go free and she goes right down.  She might kick out of it during the night if she has gas, but I just keep long onesees and socks on her.

    Look up 'swaddling 102: escape proof swaddling' on youtube.  We're still using this swaddle, but use a SwaddleMe on the outside rather than a 2nd blanket.  LO will wake herself up if her arms get out, but sleeps 8-9 hours straight in this swaddle.
