Ive gotten some FFS and Preachy profile comments sooo im wondering if this is even worth my time? anways i wish there was water births or mid wives in my city (shreveport bossier LA) but theres not, I am going to try hypnobirthing. Any moms do this in a hospital?

A lot of women use hypnobirthing training/methods in a hospital setting.

One might even go so far as to say good training and preparedness (of any kind) knows no setting (hospital, home, or anywhere else).

I don't think the tone of your message is welcoming friendly people.  Seems like you are looking for drama more than anything.  I have found the Natural Birth board to be full of friendly and supportive people.  You could have just asked your question and found plenty of helpful people with information that might help.

But to answer your question I had a wonderful med-free birth in a hospital using Hypnobirthing.  I hope to have a similar experience in December with this baby.

um no i wasnt i was venting earlier and got chewed out for it,,,so the other ppl were the drama task force. anways RACHEL did u use hypbirth? how was it ?

You got negative responses bc of your tone. If you had presented your post as a vent that your Dr is pushing you towards unwanted interventions, you wouldn't have gotten the responses you did. There is a rule book that we use on the bump- the most important is that deleting your post bc you don't like the responses is not cool. It only feeds the flames... But I honestly don't think you want to hear my input or that you really care, but I thought I'd share anyway.

I got the hypnobirthing book, but it wasn't for me. For me, it was more about trusting myself and just being determined. I was at a birth center though, so a hospital setting might be different because I think they can be pretty pushy about getting an epi.

actually tahnks for sharing laurel bee i shouild of said its a vent and advice ... anways and now i see from ur post that there is a RULE BOOK and NOT COOL accepted criteria and opinioated ppl on this site so im getting the heck out of this unfriendly club

Yep. I frequent a few boards on this website and this is by far the most helpful, friendly, and inclusive of the lot.

I'm also in the Shreveport bossier area. I did some hypnobirthing techniques in the hospital with my first baby, but that was in Boston. I recently switched from an OBGYN in Shreveport to a midwife at a birthing center in Marshall. This is one of the nicest/most patient boards on the whole bump. If she can't make it here, then she should probably mosey on over to a whole other site altogether.

Wow. You're a brat. Learn to use proper spelling, grammar, and how to ask a question without putting people down and being a jerk. This board is by far the gentlest of the ones I frequent, and these ladies don't deserve your snarkiness.

It's too bad the OP came off the way that she did, becasue she actually is bringing up a very valid point and something that I'm going to have to possibly confront tomorrow. 

I'll be 40w2d and my OB/Midwife group requires that I have an ultrasound to determine how much amniotic fluid there is around the baby.  My doula's last client, and only client to birth at the same hospital that I'm going to, was induced because her amniotic fluid was "too low".  It was a long, painful process for her that ended in a c-section. 

So we've been talking a lot about this and what we will do if I get the same diagnosis tomorrow.  The midwife said at my last appointment that if it was found to be too low (under 5), they would send me directly to the hospital for an induction.  But...our plan right now is to request another ultrasound after the weekend to see if there has been an increase in fluid levels. 

From what I've heard and read, the ultrasound measurements can be off quite a bit depending on the position of the baby.  I do not want to be induced just because of an invalid ultrasound reading.

I'm curious to what you all might have to say or your experiences with this same issue.
