HFM

I usually lurk, but need some tips on how to deal with hand, foot and mouth.  My DD has the ulcers on the back of her throat associated with the fever.  I don't even know where to begin to make her feel better....poor baby!

Re: HFM

  • Poor baby:( We gave Caleb Tylenol for pain. We did pedialyte to help him keep hydrated. He seemed to like frozen cubes of it in the mesh feeder. Our dr. told us to not worry if he wouldn't eat, but to force fluids. Maybe those squeeze pouches of food would also be good chilled. Hope she feels better soon!

  • When I had it last year ibuprofen was the only thing that made eating bearable. As soon as it began to wear off it hurt to even swallow. Any blisters on hands or feet?

  • No blisters on hands or feet.  The pedi also said to keep up with the ibuprofen.  Thanks
  • When my LO had HFM, the doctor recommended mixing children's benedryl and mylanta to help with the throat pain....and popsicles!
