Sorry this is also a small vent with a few questions. So we were denied, which I knew deep down we would be, dr wrote a letter to insurance as to why he recommends it but she is "generally healthy" which we are not complaining and are very blessed, but we want to keep it that way! It's just so frustrating that they are telling us she is at a higher risk BUT doesn't have the medical needs to qualify. I think I am taking it a little personal too, like dd is being punished for being too healthy. I think ALL preemies should get it, at least the first year!! Thanks for reading the vent now onto the questions.
Since dd's only real risk factor is her prematurity does that mean that her immune system has "caught up" or does that not kick in until 2 years old? I know we will go on lockdown and our car and house are fully stocked with Purell everywhere, we also got the flu shot and all family members that will be in contact with her. Since she never had any lung issues does that mean that the symptoms if god forbid she would get sick, would mimic that of a full term baby? I was on the phone with the nurse for 20 mins asking questions and of course thought of these after. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA
Sorry if any typos bumping from my phone :

Re: Another Synagis denial
Thanks for the response! This got me at a bad time because my emotions are a little heightened at this time of the month if ya get my drift...lol. And my family is kind of brushing it off. Like oh well if they don't think she needs it then she is fine and she *knocks on wood* hasnt had s cold yet, so we dont know how she will react to one. I think they tend to forget at times that she still is a preemie. Which is a whole other post and very frustrating. I tried to explain to her that her dr did want her to receive it, but she just doesn't fit all the guidelines that insurance needs to pay for the shots. All we can do is be extra aware! Oh and your picture is soooooo adorable!!!!!
Thank you so much, curling. It does help to think of it that either way lock down was in our future this winter! It's is hard and frustrating, I am a SAHM and Mia loves her library time and music class and other things we do with other children, now that she is getting more and more how to be social and interact. Looks like I will have to be a librarian and music teacher, poor Mia it's going to be a loooong winter for us both! I like to think I sound like Celine but in reality I sound more like William hung (old school American idol) if you don't know who that is YouTube him and you'll get the picture! Lol
