Which hypothetical situation would you choose, total gut instinct answer:
A) a job you love, 35 hours per week, pay ok, fulfilling work
-B) a job you like, 40-45 hours per week, great pay, also fulfilling
FYI Background info: You need to help with the family finances, but it would be ok to take a paycut.
Re: Just curious...
Choice A.
For me its simple, Husband works 50 hrs +, so the less time I am at work the better for our household
I'd probably go with A, but since the difference seems to boil down to 1-2 hrs a day for extra pay, are there other things about one job vs. the other that would give you more family time? Condensed work week, ability to work from home, flexible hours, better commute?
If you don't need the extra money from job B and it doesn't have any other benefits that make it work/life friendly or a much shorter commute, I'd go with option A and have those 1-2 extra hours with the kiddo every day.
Job A. Less hours wins over extra money everyday.

All of this.
Definitely A. If I'm happy with work, then it makes life at home so much more pleasant!

A.
That said, I work a very much unfulfilling job (despite my very hard work toward a good career I enjoy, and an expensive degree I'll be paying for for quite some time), with NOT good pay relative to others with my experience, precisely because I have the ability to work from home and see my kids a lot more than I would if I took the more highly paid, probably more fulfilling job route. It's not for everyone, but my priority is the time with my children. We scrimp and stress about it finance-wise, but I just can't give up this time. I honestly don't think I could truly be happy, even with more money and a more fulfilling job, if it meant even less time with my family. My desire for a fulfilling job won't ever trump the fulfillment I receive from being with my kids as much as I possibly can.

This. And, like PP mentioned, I'd want to make sure I was putting away a sufficient amount for retirement.
