Adoption

Finally sharing our news more broadly

We've been very private about our adoption plans with most of the people in our lives.  With the baby we are matched with due in three weeks, we decided to start sharing a little bit more.  It's scary for me to put it out there for fear of a failed adoption and then having to un-tell, but we also agreed that we'd need support if that does happen.  Soo, tonight I told a bunch of my neighbors at our monthly get together.  My MIL and SIL were there (they live down the street) and I have to say it was a lot of fun to talk about it finally with more than just my immediate friends and family.   It was fun to see my MIL excited talking about it too.  Everyone was so supportive and really excited for us, and willing to help in so many ways.

Another fun part about today...we found out the sex of the baby!  It's a girl!    I'm still not buying a ton of stuff, but its hard to not get excited for all things pink!!!

3 weeks is really soon.  Glad you finally told folks.  Fingers crossed all goes well and Pink is fun, but we are going to paint the baby's room lavender and have ordered an awesome rug that has both pink and lavender flowers in it.  Keep us posted as the countdown continues.  Best of luck.

  • I feel similar on being nervous to tell people broadly. I too fear untelling people. That said- I'm so glad you were able to share the news. Congrats on your little princess and I hope she's snuggly in your arms in 3 weeks!

  • Congratulations, and enjoy these 3 weeks!  I know it's scary thinking about having to un-tell people, but you don't want to regret not celebrating and enjoying every second of this special expectant time.  (( Hugs )) Pink is so much fun, I have my first niece due in December and I am loving all of the adorable clothes and toys : )
