Trouble TTC

Ovidrel question

So I picked up my Ovidrel yesterday and stupidly assumed since I would be using it within 30 days to just store it at room temp like the instructions say I can.  Fast forward to this morning where my baseline US shows cysts so we are having to skip this cycle.

SO my question is, would you think the vial of Ovidrel will be usable for the next cycle (obviously over 30 days away) if I put it in the fridge starting today?

I called the pharmacist and she really didn't act like she understood what I was asking.  I have googled it and didn't really get anything.  I will probably just ask the nurse about it when I go in for my next baseline US.

Something tells me I am just going to have to eat this $80 and chalk it up to a learning experience. Wilted Flower

Re: Ovidrel question

  • It'll be fine in the fridge for more than 30 days - it's room temp that is the concern.

Just make sure you pull it out about 30 minutes ahead of time when you actually do use it or it'll be super cold going in.

  • That's I get the hog trigger instead - you have to mix it but it's a.) cheaper and b.) lasts up to a year without refrigeration. We had to take several months off due to emotional states and ended up taking 4 months off and I didn't have to worry about a thing... Perhaps check into it?

  • I was told to store in the fridge even when I would be using it within 2 weeks. The pharmacy even sent me with an ice pack to keep it cool but not frozen for my hour drive home.

  • It's fine.  My Ovidrel has been in the fridge for almost 3 months now.  It needs to be refrigerated until you are going to use it (up until the expiration date).

  • I remember when I took mine out of the package that it said that it could be stored at room temp for up to 24 hours, then it needs to be refrigerated. So I think you'll be fine!

I had the same thing happen so mine is still in there!

Props on PP's suggesting taking it out to warm up.... I didn't even think of that.

  • There should be a package insert in the box. I threw mine away already but I found it online and it says:

418 Storage: Vials may be stored refrigerated or at room temperature (2?-25? C / 36?-77? F)

I think they recommend refrigeration just to be on the safe side but unless you've had extreme temps in your house (higher than 80), it's probably ok.
