I know you are not supposed to get discouraged after one month of trying, but it's hard not to. My husband and I tried on all my fertile days, and a couple days before and afterwards. I took a negative pregnancy test 4 days before my missed period with a pregnancy test that claims it can give accurate results 6 days before your missed period. I know there's a slight chance I still could be, is there anyone on this site who has taken a negative pregnancy test when you really were pregnant?
Re: negative pregnancy test, could I still be pregnant?
it isnt as important how many days you are before your expected period as how many days past your ovulation you are.
I have a short LP (days post ovulation before period) so testing 6 days before my period would only been 6 days post O for me.
wait and test the day your period is due, I tested 2 days and 1 day before my period and got negatives and then tested the day period was due (11 days post O) and got my BFP!
I got a negative test and was still pregnant, I tested too early - must have ovulated late. That pregnancy ended early, with Olivia I tested myself the day my cycle should have started and got a positive result.
Some women have a hormone that doesn't allow for accurate urine test results and have to get a blood test to determine pregnancy. My best friend is a nurse, she told me what the hormone was but I don't recall. If you don't have your period by Monday, ask your GP for a blood test, they are more sensitive than the HPTs anyway.
i would test closer to AF; those HPT that claim to get a result 6 days before AF are only about 60% accurate. they state it in small print in their commercials.
good luck!
I got a negative test at 9dpo followed by (several) positive tests at 12 dpo. Are you charting? Do you know the day you ovulated? Those types of numbers are much more meaningful than how many days before you think you expect your period, since ovulating late can lead to a later expected period.
Test again with fmu until you get a positive or your period.
I hope I'll be joining you ladies soon!
Best of luck to you OP!
You also need to take into consideration when you implanted (if you are pregnant). This time I implanted at 7 DPO and got a faint positive at 9 DPO, but with my other pregnancies I didn't get a positive until later. And yes, I have taken negative pregnancy tests before I got a positive (lots of them).
Don't get too discouraged your first month. We started trying for baby #2 around this time last year, I got pregnant in February, had a miscarriage, and then didn't get pregnant again until October. So realistically it can take awhile, and this is normal. I know how frustrating it can be though!

Although I did have a negative before a positive it's also possible that you just aren't pregnant.
Just because you had sex at the right time it doesn't mean you'll get pregnant.
This is always good to remember...you can do everything in your power to be in the perfect window and still get a negative. One month of TTC is still early. Even with charting, it took me 9 months for DD. BUT, that being said, it's not over until AF arrives. Good luck to you!

Yes...its not over until AF shows. I had 4 days of BFNs before I got a BFP at 11DPO.

That said, I have NEVER had luck taking a hpt before af was due (not that it stopped me from testing early). If you aren't charting, or at the very least using opk's, then you won't really know when you should be testing to begin with. I started ttc 2.5 years before I got pregnant with my DD, so I have poas about a million times. I think a PP mentioned the fine print telling you the accuracy when you test before AF, and it's not very good. Wait a week and test again.
First off, it isn't likely to get pregnant on your first shot of trying. I believe the statistic is 20% of healthy couples can? I may be wrong on that, but I know it's on the low end. Were you temping, taking OPKs and watching your CM? If not then you probably weren't able to pinpoint your fertile days as well as you think.
The only way to know for sure if you are accurately testing based on your O date and expected period is to chart. So you may have Oed late, and it hasn't been long enough to tell or your period isn't as close as you expect or you just aren't pregnant.
Until you get AF, it is possible. Wait until you actually miss your period and then test. I tested at 8dpo and 9dpo, both BFN. That was 6 and 7 days before AF... unlikely but I was discouraged still. I waited a day then tested again at 4 days before and got a BFP on both a pink dye and a CBD.
