Does anyone have recommendations for the next stage car seat that can be rear-facing and also forward facing (and if it turned into a booster seat, too, that would be great!) This is what DS is getting for Christmas from his grandparents - exciting, I know :P

Hope that works if you copy and paste. It fits kids 4 lbs to 70 lbs! And it's quite small.
If price is not a problem, I have heard great things about Britax.
We, however, have the Cosco Scenera for DD. Consumer Reports recommended it along with the Britax after testing, but it is only about $40 at Wal-Mart. DD is two and still RF, though she will soon be taller than the guidelines for this carseat to RF. The weight limit for RF is fairly high, though.
We have the graco my ride 65 and I'm kind of meh about it.
Pros: DD still has plenty of room to grow in it. She's a big girl-90% for height and 75% for weight and I'd say she still has about 3 inches to go until she will need to be turned FF. she also has plenty of leg room. I'm guessing we won't have to turn her around until she's at least 2.5 y/o unless she has an outrageous growth spurt.
Cons: it's not easy to adjust the tightness of the straps while rear facing which is a major PITA. The cover comes off really easily which is not ideal when your kid hits the stage when they throw exorcist-like tantrums every time you put them in the seat (my kid isn't the only one who does this, right? Right??) she pulls the top part of the cover off every time. The issue is that this leaves the styrofoam exposed and I'm nervous she'll start picking at it and trying to eat it.
Ultimately, she can ERF for a while in it, which is most important. But I've seen other cars seats recommended on TB before that I plan to try when we need one for DS.
We have the older model of this one:

for DD1 and love it. She was RF until 27 months when we turned her around to go to the drive-in.
Emily 8.8.08
Madeline 1.2.11
William 8.5.12
We have this seat as well. We've been using it since DS was born and LOVE it! It fits great in both of our cars, a wagon and sedan. We have two seats because it is really too heavy to need to move around a lot. The seat seems like it is super comfy for the child with lots of padding. It has a cup holder for older kids which is a huge plus (also works great as a pacifier holder!)
