Pregnitude? — The Bump

Pregnitude?

I went for my HCG test to make sure my levels have come down.  They are at 1.

Backstory - When we started TTC#2 my RE put me on metformin to regulate my periods.  My problem is that I do not or wasn't ovulate every month.  The metformin seems to have fixed this issue.  My RE said there is a possibility I may have PCOS but I have no signs or symptoms other than not ovulating every month.  This problem seems to have fixed itself.

Long story short, RE called my today and wants me to stop taking metformin and start taking pregnitude.  It is an over the counter dietary supplement.  I tried to look it up between all of my interruptions here at work, ugh!  It looks like it is promising and is helping those with PCOS to get pregnant.  I am flipping out a little because I do not want to stop the metformin.  I am excited to try pregnitude, although I hate the name.  Makes me cringe a little.

Has anyone heard of this?  Sorry if there are any typos, at work and have been interrupted 55487642 times.

Re: Pregnitude?

  • I have no expereince with this, but I'm with you-- the name of pregnitude makes me cringe a little, too....  Lots of luck with it though.

  • I don't understand why he wants you to stop the Met if it is working and you are ovulating?
I took pregnitude for two cycles and ovulated on one of them. I probably didn't stay on it long enough, but was ready to move on.
  • I agree, pregnitude sounds like something else entirely! lol!

I hope it works for you though, if it is OOT does that mean it will save you some $?

  • It's actually cheaper for me to be on metformin.  It costs me $4 for 6 weeks and the pregnitude costs $35 per month.  Not a huge expense either way.  I went to pick up samples and it was so hard for me to say "pregnitude"  such a horrible name.

I did ask why this instead of staying on the met.  My doctor swears this will work better for me.  No real explanation.  I am willing to try it.  I feel like I am his guinea pig, but I do know he is an excellent doctor.  We'll see.

Hey Jeanna.  I talked to Dr. Meyer.  He left me a long message.  I sent him an email, he responded right away.  I talked to Michele when I went in this afternoon.  She is my favorite.  I honestly don't think they know what my problem is.  My body is so confusing and never consistent.  So I figure, why not try something new.  Been thinking of you.  How are you holding up in the 2ww?  Keeping my FX for you!

  • When I read the title of this post, I thought it was going to be about a pregnant woman with an attitude!

As you can tell by that statement, I've never heard of pregnitude, but it did give me a good laugh to think someone came up with a new term.

    Good luck to you!

LOL - I thought the same thing!

I know that metformin is a medication traditionally prescribed for diabetes.  I didn't know anything about pregnitude...so I looked it up and they have a website: http://www.pregnitude.com/

This is what the website said it was:

Pregnitude is a reproductive dietary supplement that helps support ovulatory function, menstrual cyclicity and quality of eggs for women.

Pregnitude is a natural dietary supplement that contains 2 grams of myo-inositol, as well as 200 mcg of folic acid.

    - Myo-inositol is a naturally occurring substance produced by the human body from glucose.  It belongs to the viamin B complex group.

    - Folic acid is a B vitamin that promotes cell growth.

Maybe they are thinking that it may improve the quality of your eggs, which may help you to stay pregnant.
