Amusing(?) Story - Abdominal pain - not really bump related

So, I have been having horrible heartburn for months now.  So bad I am on prescription medication to reduce stomach acid. 

Last month, I developed severe abdominal pain, which sent me to ER and they though perhaps was appendictis but that was ruled out.  I went to my DR to follow up after the ER visit and since I am still suffering she arranged an ultrasound and b/w.

She printed off a requisition for the bloodwork from their computer system.  She was in a hurry, I was her last patient on a Friday and I heard her making afterwork plans with a co-worker.

I went for the b/w and I'm waiting at the lab, when the receptionist calls me back and says "we just need you to fill this out first".  She was a little put off, because it was supposed to be filled out before I got there.

So I apologize as I had not been instructed (I was getting an unusual test so it was possible that they hadn't known) 

I take the form and look at it and it's titled  "2nd Trimester Prenatal Screening..."

I stare at it, trying to process what is happening.  Then I realize, the last time I had had bloodwork done at my Dr. Office was when I was PG and this is the old form, that she has just printed off and hand written on.  So I look at the woman and I say...

"Uh I think this is a mistake"

The woman shows me the requisition and sure enough there it is checked off.

I say "Yeah, I see that, but I'm not Pregnant".   She looks at me like ."are you sure?"  So I said, "I was but I'm not anymore.  This must have been an old requisition"

The poor thing was so upset.  I reassured her, I understood what had happened, but in light of the present circumstances this particular set of tests were no longer required. 

Just another example of the screw ups which happen regularly at my Dr. 

I'm not upset.  It's kind of funny.

ZOMG! Good for your for seeing the "seriously?!"-type humor aspect of this! What can you do but laugh?

Were you able to get the right test done? That is the only thing I might have been frustrated about! 

(And I do think it's sweet that receptionist/ultrasound tech/? was upset. So not her fault)

ETA: to fix all the typos!

oh WOW, glad you were able to see the humor in it! Hopefully that will remind the Dr not to rush!!

Oh, sure I had a bunch of b/w tests to have done, the ususal general blood work and such and the Dr. had written in the hand the "unusual" test in the appropriate area on the form.  She just didn't realize there was anyting checked off in the prenatal area.

She was the receptionist, she just takes your information and requisitions to register you and put you in the queue. 

I have f/u with dr next week for results, I'll let her know there was a screw up.  But it's still so out of the box 'seriously?' ridiculous.  What a joke.  LOL

oh I forgot... the really funny part.

The receptionist made a copy of the req, highlighted the prenatal screening and said, "just in case" you need it.

Hope your HB goes away. If not ask for a hida scan. I had HB and every treatment/test for acid reflux and nothing helped. Ended up in the ER and did a hida scan. It was my GB all along stone in the neck that didn't show in ultrasound. No "acid reflux" at all since it's been removed.

You know, I think I am going to follow this advice.  Because, the HB isn't going away, and neither is the abdominal pain.
