We are letting our nanny go. Since we have no back up nanny we will be taking our 2 year old and 3 month old girls to my bff's moms in home daycare. My questions are: what do I bring? Do they go in pjs and get dressed there? Food? Bottles? Frozen BM? How should I plan out the commute? I live 30 minutes away from the daycare, and start work at 8. Work is about 20 minutes from daycare. I'm overwhelmed....
Re: Help me plan for daycare
Take them dressed already. Bring premade bottles. I take 3 4oz bottles and he usually goes through two, and sometimes all three.
For everything else, ask what she prefers. My current DC has a cubby drawer for my boys with an extra set of clothes (2 sets for the baby), and extra socks. I bring a pack of diapers for each, and she tells me when she is running low. DS1 has a water sippy cup that I take home on weekends to wash. All bottles and sippys are labeled. She supplies all other food and snacks. My old DC had us take a diaper bag each day and we left diapers and wipes there. Just ask her what her policy is.
For the commute, give yourself an extra 15 minutes for dropoff, in case they atre clingy, you have questions or insrtuctions, or you are like me and just a talker!
If she has a contract, most of this info is listed in there.
All day cares are different, so ask her what you should bring. I would for sure bring them dressed, set out the clothes the night before. We bring a pack of diapers every month, she provides all the food/milk/toys/wipes. I also bring a blanket & silky for his naps that he keeps there, I take it home on Fridays and wash it and bring it back with him on Mondays. Also, extra outfit stays there...we've never needed to use it, but its good to know its there.
The more you can do the night before- the easier the morning routine will run.
For your baby, get the bottles all ready and packed in the fridge the night before too- always pack extra...spills happen, babies get extra hungry...its good to be prepared.
