Adjustment for 4 month old

For those that send their kids to DC or anywhere else, how long did it take your LO to adjust? Meaning not cry anymore. My DS will be 4 months next week.
I went with DS to daycare today for a few hours and it was hard for me to watch him cry because he was unfamiliar with the environment and caretaker. It really makes me dread dropping him off tomorrow.
I need to hear some of your encouraging stories!

Re: Adjustment for 4 month old

  • I started sending DD at 15 weeks and she has never cried when I drop her off.  Some mornings if she's still a little tired, she'll be kind of clingy to me, but our DC is really good about taking the baby into the room and engaging them in an activity.  There have actually only been a few mornings that DD has even watched me leave.

I will say that a new baby started a few weeks ago.  She's probably right around a year, and she was crying every morning when I dropped DD off, and again every night when I picked her up.  I think the teachers said she cried every day for a week.  It was really heartbreaking to see, but she wasn't used to it and it was a really tough transition for her.  Sending my DD when she was so little was hard on me too, but she just eased right into the routine.  Your LO will very quickly adjust!  Good luck mama.

  • It seems like most babies adjust within a week or two.  He'll get there soon - try not to drive yourself nuts with worry in the meantime.

  • LO used to cry whe I picked him up.  I felt like he was yelling at me for leaving.  He would snuggle in my arms, and nestle his head in my chest.  He just wanted to be close.  I'd say it took a month...but he was only 6 weeks old at the time...

As he begins getting more familiar with the teachers it'll get easier.
